In the 53rd issue of the Bed and Breakfast e-Traveller, we take you to the Haliburton Highlands -- a region filled with vibrant colours and exciting events during the autumn season.

From early September to late October, the Haliburton Highlands puts its best foot forward in a riot of colour. Choose one of our FOBBA inspected and approved bed and breakfast homes for your visit and you'll be surrounded by warm hospitality, brilliant hills and vivid valleys. Tucked among the hills are villages and hamlets to explore. Take in our museums, galleries, artists studios and join us in any of the following activities during September, October and on into December.


Hike Haliburton Festival
October 14, 15 & 16, 2005
Don't miss the 3rd Annual Hike Haliburton Festival. This year's program features over 30 themed and guided hikes. Enjoy the Blast Off Barbecue Friday evening and the Blister Ball & Silent Auction Saturday night. There is something for everyone. Hike Haliburton for Body & Sole!

Haliburton County Studio Tour
October 1 – 2 & 8 – 9, 2005
Visit each studio and experience the creative process. Talk to the artist or watch demonstrations. An abundance of handmade, original works of art will be on display for show and sale. Many of our award winning artists accept private commissions. Please note that some studios do not accept credit card payments but cheques and cash are widely accepted.

Haliburton Concert Series
October 2, 2005
Mark Dubois & David Warrack. Watch the music fireworks as two of Canada's most accomplished musical artists join together. Mark Dubois has long reigned supreme as Canada's finest lyric tenor and David Warrack is a conductor, arranger, pianist and all-round showman.

Dickens Christmas Program, Agnes Jamieson Gallery

The festivities will offer something to delight all the senses. Charles Dickens will provide insights into his ambitious and interesting travels. Local choirs and individuals will entertain you with their seasonal renditions. During the evening you can finalize your bids on the Christmas Tree Auction. The winning bids will be announced at the close of the evening.

Haliburton Highlands Bed & Breakfast Christmas Tour
December 3 & 4, 2005
We love showing people through our homes at any time, so on December 3 & 4 from 11 a.m to 5 p.m., a number of our B&B homes will open their doors for this year's tour. Our B&Bs are decorated in as many different ways as there are B&B hosts and we will warm you up with tasty tidbits and beverages. Many of the B&Bs will feature guest artists who will be displaying and selling their work and some will have musical guests. Tickets are $10 each and funds raised will support local charities.
