Edition 14: September 2, 2001

In the fourteenth issue of the Bed and Breakfast Traveller, we take you to the majestic yet tranquil Kawartha Lakes region. Situated on the Trent-Severn Waterway and sprawled amidst the Kawartha Lakes, the region offers visitors a multitude of opportunities for boating, fishing and swimming. Go shopping in Lindsay, Lakefield, Fenelon Falls, or one of the other towns/villages, check out a Farmer's Market or antique/craft show, and don't forget to spend a lot of time in the great outdoors!!

The Kawartha Lakes region is welcoming and peaceful, but alive with the vitality and community spirit that characterizes small town Ontario. Its history and culture truly begins with the establishment of the Trent Severn Waterway that winds its way from one famous lift lock in Peterborough to a second in Kirkfield. Its initial function as a location for water travel within Ontario now makes it a haven for boaters and swimmers. Among its list of attractions are Petroglyphs Provincial Park, Warsaw Caves, and the Canadian Canoe Museum, and most times of the year there is a festival or fair to make your visit memorable.

Villages and towns are located within such close proximity to one another that the region is ideal for day trips. Enjoy a hearty country breakfast in one, spend the day shopping or golfing in another, and enjoy an evening of dining and dancing in a third.
