The best part of Anderson House is the ambiance. This is the result of the attentive hospitality offered by Liz and James, the charm of the house and its surroundings, the stunning décor and the well-appointed rooms. I cannot forget the absolutely delightful breakfast! I would highly recommend this B&B!

- Lise, from Ottawa 7 December 2018

Someone has said that whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must remain silent. But I feel it would be unfair to fellow travellers to remain silent about this wonderful bed and breakfast. Every detail of the house has been lovingly taken care of: from the flawless construction of the house itself to the antique decor to the luxurious thick and soft towels, nothing is left to be desired. In addition, Liz and Jamie are wonderful hosts and cooks. Anderson House is the ultimate in bed and breakfasts--a destination in itself!

- Lorraine, from Ottawa 18 October 2017

Liz and Jamie are warm and friendly hosts. The house is amazing with a nice deck out front where one can sit and relax. Our breakfast was so tasty and so filling. Thank you Liz and Jamie. We loved the dog too !

Liz and Jamie are incredibly hospitable. Liz is a fabulous cook. The rooms are cozy and comfortable with a Victorian theme. The location is marvellous - at the edge of town - so that you can watch birds at breakfast or take walks in the country or get to amenities quickly. It's centrally located so that you can get to Port Perry, Oshawa and other surrounding communities quickly. Thanks of a super stay!

We decided to host my son's rehearsal dinner at Anderson House. Everything was amazing. The house is beyond beautiful and the food was great. Liz is great to work with. She keeps things simple and made our guest feel very welcome. We would definitely use this place again.

- Cheryl, from Whitby 28 October 2016

A huge thank you to Liz for hosting our small and intimate 17 guest wedding this August (2016). We were blown away by the service Anderson House provided us with. Liz went above and beyond what she should have to keep everything flowing smoothly on my wedding day (even things that weren't necessarily her job). The grounds are absolutely stunning, the food is superb! Our guests had an amazing time and even mentioned hosting some events of there own with Anderson House in the future because they had such a great experience on our wedding. Thank you so much Liz for all of the care you gave me making sure everything was perfect. I cannot thank you enough :) I will be sure to share photos with you once we receive them!

All the best to you & thank you again :) -Megan.

Celebrated my 70th Birthday with Family and Friends at this Lovely spot today and it was PERFECT! The owner's of this establishment are very professional and organized. You will not be disappointed no matter whether you come to stay or just come for a meal. It was Excellent! Thank You, Judy

- Judy Davidson, 16 April 2016

Our wedding planner had rave reviews about this B&B because of which we decided to book a 2 night stay in a Bridal Suite at Anderson House in mid May. This was our very first experience with a B&B and it was a great one. The house was very tastefully decorated with beautiful Victorian furnishings and the property was very well maintained. My husband and I cannot say enough about this place, the delicious breakfast and the hosts Liz & James who were truly exceptional. We are definitely returning for another stay!! Thanks James & Liz!

We really enjoyed our stay at your B&B, enjoyed your hospitality and the plentiful home cooked breakfast, had a good night sleep in your beautiful home, thank you Liz & Jamie.

- Maurice & Linda Couture, from Val Caron, On 1 September 2015

May 29/15 - We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at The Anderson House B&B. The whole property was beautifully landscaped and the wrap-around veranda was so inviting! The house and rooms were immaculate and the décor was stunning right from the colours, window treatments, bedding, accent furniture, the antiques, and area rugs - our hosts had obviously poured a great deal of time and effort into every detail! After a plentiful home cooked breakfast we sat out on the huge back deck and relaxed taking in the surrounding evergreens and carefully placed potted plants and hanging baskets of flowers. We really appreciated Liz and Jim's hospitality and beautiful home!

- Kathy and Murray, from Hamilton, Ontario 31 May 2015

We really enjoyed our overnight stay on March 28th. It was a great place to relax after a busy day. We'll be back, soon we hope! Thank you Liz & Jamie for your hospitality.

- Chris & Ken, from Hamilton 30 March 2015

I was one of the Probus group that attended the luncheon at your place last week. I don't know when I've enjoyed a Christmas luncheon as much as this one. The decorations were outstanding; everywhere I looked there was something truly beautiful to see. The punch, on arrival, made a nice welcoming greeting, and the dinner was superb. A week later I'm still thinking about the delightful time I had there. Thank you for hosting our group. Hope we can come back next year! Mary

- Mary, from Oshawa 22 November 2014

We stayed with you for only 1 night on September 28th under the alias Rod Steward!!! We have now been back home for 3 weeks and catching up on our holiday memories. Anderson House as expected was the most stunning of all the b & b's we stayed at during our 3 week holiday through Ontario & Quebec & the way you made us welcome will always stay with us, as will the house & gardens. Many thanks again. The Steward family.

- Rod Steward, from United Kingdom 22 November 2014

- Heather & Tim, 29 August 2013

I stayed one night in May (2013) with my husband. Liz is super nice and helpful and accommodating. She did her best to ensure we were comfortable. She has a beautiful big dog who is also very friendly :) The house is full of wonderful antiques and has a very warm, welcoming atmosphere. The beds are super comfy too! The only thing that interrupted my sleep was my husband's LOUD snoring LOL! Oh yes.....the food is SOOO amazing! Liz is a great chef! Not only do I look forward to the next nights stay there, but totally look forward to the wonderful breakfast!

- Vita Connell, from Oshawa, ON 26 June 2013

My sister and I hosted our mother's 90th birthday luncheon for 14 guests. Liz and James created a wonderful experience for our family and friends - the cocktail hour by the piano (yummy hors d'oeuvers!), the table settings, the décor, the flowers, and who can forget the unforgettable meal. Thank you, Liz for making such a special day a success!

Well, well, well I do believe all is said that can be said about Liz and James and their beautiful B & B. I know it is after Christmas but could not resist telling you all that our YA YA SISTERS had our traditional gathering again for the 4th time. This is becoming a Christmas tradition with us. You can not find this Winter Wonderland anywhere else. I am sure that Santa would feel right at home here... The overnight say is so tranquil and the food is prepared with tender loving care. I am going to be there this May celebrating with my family my 50th anniversary. I look forward to seeing the green grass, the flowers , Liz and her smile and the best food ever. Can,t wait to see you again Liz. Until we meet again... :-)

We were so happy that we found The Anderson House. Liz and Jamie were such nice hosts and we had very warm hospitality. The house itself is very charming and it was very nicely decorated for Haloween, nice antiques furniture and nice garden. Eugene and Nellie (two dogs) were so cutes (I hope sincerely that Nellie is going well). My mum and my niece from Japan were so impressed by the beautiful house and the nice breakfasts. Thank you for having us statyed at the Anderson House!

We had a fantastic time celebrating our dad's 64th birthday. The food was outstanding and the hosts were wonderful. Everyone had a great time and commented on how 'at home' they all felt. What a wonderful place....thanks for hosting such a special event! We highly recommend The Anderson House!!!

- Monique Sluymers, from Ann Arbor, MI 18 February 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Anderson's beautiful home. The Christmas decorations are simply outstanding as is the accommodation, breakfast and service. Our host even provided us with windshield deicing fluid for our drive home after the recent snowfall. We have visited in the summer and winter and can testify that any season is the right time to visit.

- The Smiths, from Oakville, Ontario, Canada 30 December 2011

Our church ladies group had our Christmas Lunch here. The house was decorated beautifully and the luncheon was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed our time there.

This place is truly a hidden gem! I had my baby shower there recently and all my guests found it to be fantastic! Liz goes out of her way to extend her hospitality and treats her clients with respect. Our "Victorian Tea" was a hit! I would highly recommend this venue. The establishment boasts a nostalgic appeal that is nearly impossible to find elsewhere. Fabulous!!!!!

- AM, from Brooklin, Ontario 8 November 2011

Fantasitc! Great Hosts! I should have wrote this along time ago. My husband and I were married 3 years ago, May 10, 2008 and we had photos taken around the property, hor d'erves were served along with punch. We stayed there on our wedding night and in the morning she had a fantastic breakfast prepared. It was wonderful. I cannot wait to stay here again, I am hoping on our 5th anniversary to come back a stay.

- Kelly Langridge, from Whitby, ON 7 November 2011

Oct 18,2011 We stayed two days with Liz and Jamie who welcomed us into their home and went out of their way to accommodate my husband's dietary needs. It is a gorgeous home and the photos of their home do not do it justice. I recommend Anderson House to anyone. It clearly shows Liz and Jamie have put their hearts into their home. Hope to see you again.

- Linda and Del, from Welland, Ontario 18 October 2011

Liz and Jamie...Thank-you both so much for making our family all feel so welcome in your home for my niece Ashley's wedding this past weekend. We couldn't have found a more perfect spot for the girls to all relax Friday afternoon and evening before the wedding. Your home is beautiful and it shows the love and caring you extend to your guests. The breakfasts and the lunch you provided on Ashley and Jeremy's wedding day was the best!! We had so much fun there and our little Mackenzie -2 1/2 mths loved being rocked on the chairs out on the front porch. Thank you again for making such a special event so memorable!! Cheers! Debbie Parker and the Parker/Bryars families

- Debbie Parker, from Mississauga, Ontario 1 September 2011

Good morning Liz. I have taken a few quiet days to reflect on all the memories that one special day can create in one's life. Our daughter's wedding was all we could have hoped for and the hours and hours of planning was well worth the time! Now that I feel a bit more rested I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the exceptional care and consideration you extended to my family during their stay with you last weekend. I knew your surroundings would be welcoming to them, but it was the hospitality of both you and your husband that they are still recalling with fondness. You looked after their every need and it was a pleasure for them to start and end each day at your lovely home. This made me feel so happy that I was able to place them in such wonderful surroundings without worry that I was ground zero for wedding activities that would have interfered with their ability to rest and restore for all the big activities. Your home and grounds are such a reflection of your attention to detail and such a treasure to see, but it is your care and consideration that will make them wish they could stay with you again. I would love to hear from you whenever you have any presentations for the seasons on display, it would be exciting to see all your creativity. Once again, my sincere appreciation for your hospitality to the Palmer/Huchuk guests.

Thanks again. Catherine

- Catherine Mcneil, 26 August 2011

Liz- thanks so much once again for the food and hospitality you showed us the weekend of July 8-10 2011. I don't think we could have done it without you. Everything was fantastic from the rehearsal dinner on Friday, the wedding day, the wedding night and brunch on Sunday. It was a pleasure and thank-you for sharing your home with all of us. We would highly recommend your B&B to anyone especially those making arrangements for a wedding. Your home is beautiful.

- Janet Ward, from Whitby, Ontario 3 August 2011

I stayed at Anderson House for 9 days and had a lovely time! Liz and Jamie were amazing! Their house is incredible! It looks like a something out of a magazine and Liz is the most hospitable and sweet lady. You will not be disappointed whatsoever with your stay at the Anderson House. I will definitely be returning! :)

- Rachel Halsey Moore, from Tampa, Florida 25 June 2011

On Nov. 25, we had a surprise 80th. birthday party/Christmas party at Anderson House. Throughout the planning, Liz was so helpful and on the actual day, all 24 of us were blown away by the beautiful holiday decor, the food was absolutely divine, and the attention to all the details was top-notch! Liz and staff even indulged our Kodak moments, taking a group photo of all of us on the gorgeous stairway. Before we left, we had booked our date for Dec. 2011, and are all anticipating another memorable day! I would recommend this "hidden Gem" for anyone's special occasion, be it a smaller family celebration or a larger function! An overnight stay at Anderson House is now top of my "Bucket List"! Thank you again, Liz and staff, for a job WELL-Done!! Elaine Simpson

There are no words adequate enough to describe our experience at the Anderson House. The kindess, hospitality and generosity of Liz and James is unprecedented. My sister, her two little girls and I stayed there for three nights. Liz and James were incredibly welcoming and gracious from the moment we arrived. The craftmanship and period decor' of their home is a magical step back in time w/all of today's amenities. The girls were enchanted with their surroundings - running and skipping in the backyard, counting lillies in the pond and playing with Nellie and Eugene. Each morning, we awoke to a lovely place setting and coffee brewing in the kitchen. No one left the table hungry and there was never a lull in conversation. We felt as though we were at home and Liz and James were just extended family. We so appreciated their sense of humor and lively discussions. Sometimes, it's the little things that make all the difference in the world - when Liz learned that the girls would be leaving at the crack of dawn to go to Niagra Falls, she made little snack bags for them since they would miss breakfast. It's this kind of thoughtfulness that makes the Anderson House extraordinary. The rest of our family stayed in another local B&B - while it was "nice", they were terribly jealous of our experience at the Anderson House. I found this particularly amusing since my brother actually stole the reservations for the other place right out from underneath me! Serves him right - we couldn't have been happier elsewhere. My only complaint is that the Anderson House is so far from Dallas. Were it closer, we would make staying there an annual tradition as so many other visitors have done. Clearly, Liz and James have put their hearts into this B&B. We wish them continued success and will forever remember them fondly.

- Kati Willis, from Dallas, TX 15 August 2010

Thank you so much James and Liz for sharing your beautiful home with us. You have made our stay at the B&B a wonderful experience. The breakfasts and accomodations were excellent. This was a home away from home. We wish you and your husband continued success and we will recommend your B& B to people traveling your area .

We will definitely see you again. Take care

- Alice and Dave ( June-July 2010), from Timmins, Ontario 7 July 2010

Thanks so much to Liz and James! We had such a wonderful day, and it was the perfect wedding atmosphere! This was exactly how we had planned our special day! The dressing room was an amazing setting for my girls and I to share those special moments before the ceremony, and the common areas afterwards to mingle were perfect. The setup was great, and the attention to detail, the food, the decor and everything was just amazing! The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast the next day was fantastic! I will recommend your place to anyone wanting to stay from out of town from now on.

On Dec. 5, 2009 the "YA YA SISTERS" had their Christmas dinner with Liz for the second year now... We had 17 ladies. We were so much at home here that we played Christmas games and took an album of photos. We sang, laughed, ate and enjoyed each others company. What a wonderful life we live. Liz, we all have moments when we wonder whether we have any impact at all on the world around us. You do! Just by being you! We have blessing to count and beautiful memories thanks to "U". Thanks again for a magical evening. Looking forward to our next visit.

- Charlotte, from Oshawa 29 December 2009

My girlfriends and I just enjoyed a very delightful Christmas luncheon in the dining room. It was so very tastefully and elegantly decorated, and we were made to feel very special. Oh, the food was superb, too!! I would - and will - recommend it to all. Thanks, and I wish you much prosperity in the future.

- Shirley Dale, from Wilmot Creek, Ontario 13 December 2009

Just returned home after spending a night at Anderson's B & B. Had a great time there. The host's were wonderful. They have a lovely home, and make you feel like family. The breakfast was superb. My husband & I will try & get back again for a visit. Thanks a lot

- Sheila & Brian, from Guelph, Ontario. 27 July 2009

I stayed at Anderson House the night before my wedding, then my bridesmaids and I got ready in the bridal dressing room, we did our pictures there and my new husband and I returned there the evening after our wedding. It was amazing. Our pictures turned out flawless, the grounds are wonderful as is the bridal dressing room. The breakfasts were amazing as was the lunch and snacks that Liz provided for our day. They are a huge part of what made our wedding experience awesome. We filled the house with guests from our wedding and it was great to sit and catch up with them the morning after. All in all an 11+ out of 10! My husband & I give Anderson House a full thumbs up and highly recommend it to everyone! If we didn't actually live 10 minutes away we'd stay again and again! Our out of town guests loved it and each of them said they would return without a doubt and recommend it as well. Thank you Anderson House!

- Joy & Jeff Lahti, from Oshawa, ON 11 March 2009

This December I joined a group of ladies at the Anderson House B&B for a private festive dinner party of 12. From the moment I drove up the driveway and saw the lights I felt I was in a Christmas story book; I truly was in awe of the Christmas spirit surounding us, it was magical. It was an evening I'll always remember and hope to repeat again. Thank you

- Donna, from Lindsay, Ontario 1 January 2009

Our Christmas gathering of our "YA YA SISTERHOOD" was amazing !! I can,t explain in words how amazing it is. You have to see it to believe it. Warm, magical, memorable the highlight of our Christmas. Congratulations on a job well done. Who knew this wonderland was right in our own backyard !!! Until we meet again.. God Bless

- Charlotte, from Oshawa 17 December 2008

I stayed at Anderson House the night before my wedding with my mom and my bridal party on October 3rd. We were warmly greeted at the door and quickly welcomed into their home. There were lots of drinks and snacks waiting for us when we arrived. The next morning we had a great breakfast with yogurt, heart shaped pancakes, fruit and more. We all got ready in this gorgeous bridal room that is above their barn. The hairdresser and make-up ladies come to us and set up in the bridal room. Liz provided everyone with drinks and snacks for the whole morning. We even got our pictures taken there and they turned out wonderfully. Jamie and Liz, thank you so much for making my special day even more special by making me feel relaxed and taking care of everything for my girls and me. It was defiantly one of the highlights of my day and I couldn't stop talking about your gorgeous house all day long. I will absolutely recommend Anderson House to everyone I know. Thank you again.

- Lisa McDowell, from Oshawa, Ontario 19 November 2008

Thank you for your gracious hospitality last Saturday. We were so impressed by your beautiful "Anderson House" home and grounds. The design and decor of your home evokes a more leisurely and gracious way of living and is also a testament to your values of hearth, home and family. The meal you cooked was delicious and I loved how your granddaughter so proudly played tour guide to show us the "barn". I have never seen a barn like that! As I mentioned Liz, in the movie, "Gone with the Wind" they made draperies into gowns, in your lovely setting you created gowns to make draperies. I can see the love that both of you crafted in your home. Again, thank you for a memorable afternoon, a delicous meal and your generous hospitality. Warmest regards

- Donna Chevrier, from Mississauga, Ontario 30 September 2008

My Husband & I along with my daughter and her husband just spent a WONDERFUL time with Liz and Jamie. We arrived in a torrential downpour and were greeted by two of the most friendly dogs we have every met. Of course Jamie & Liz were there too - but Nellie and Eugene were delightful greeters. We got to relax over coffee and cookies after a 4 hour drive. Our visit was short - but the home is absolutely amazing. Liz and Jamie make you feel like you are in your own home. The rooms are spectacular and the breakfast was delicious. We received a tour of the Bridal room for brides to dress in - what a beautiful part of the house - makes me want to do it all over again. We arrived back from our event by 9pm Saturday, and spent two hours on the back porch - engaged in delightful conversations about the home, and the area, while sipping our wine and playing with the dogs. We are hoping to come back for a visit in December for our anniversary - and to see the Christmas decorations, which I understand are fabulous. Thank you Liz and Jamie for a wonderful weekend.

- Linda Stemmler, from Owen Sound, ON 28 July 2008

If you are in the Oshawa area you must stay at Anderson House. Liz and James welcomed us into their amazing home. It is a beautiful place and we were made to feel like friends.

Storey Homes Ltd had their annual Holiday Dinner at the Anderson House. The lights and decorations were incredible. Breathtaking even. The food was excellent and the service impeccable. Reports from many of my staff have indicated that this is the best Seasonal dinner they have ever had. With such good feedback we are hoping to make this our annual location. Thanks to you Liz and Jamie for all your hard work.

- Storey Homes Ltd, from Toronto and Durham 19 December 2007
