dot Ashby House Bed & Breakfast
We just stayed 12 nights with Mary Anne and Robin. Ashby House is centrally situated in Vancouver’s West End, and it’s a short walk north to Stanley Park, south to False Creek, west to the beach, and east to downtown and the harbor. There is great shopping and entertainment surrounding you on three sides – Robson, Denman, and Davie. They have a beautiful heritage home full of books and antiques with a comfy front porch. You are greeted by a friendly Scottish terrier, and an elegant cat. The beds and linens are super-comfortable – the best we have experienced. Mary Anne and Robin are great hosts – there is always a leisurely conversation going on around the breakfast table or on the porch. They source all their food locally, and Robin’s bacon is to die for. All of this at a rate cheaper than we could find elsewhere.

A stay at Mary Ann and Robin’s period B&B let’s you enter another time, where good conversation and delicious food enhances this unique experience. Our hosts were an endless font of great suggestions to explore Vancouver- taking in the natural beauty, bike trips and delicious restaurants! MaryAnn’s lush garden is ever blooming, and is the subject of many photos by those who pass by this charming West End spot!

Ashby House is a fab B&B within easy walking distance of Stanley Park, ferries to Granville Island, restaurants and shopping. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfasts scrumptious. MaryAnne and Robin are lovely hosts who kindly share insights and tips for enjoying what Vancouver has to offer. Would definitely recommend staying here!

I stayed there for 3 days with my family of 5. It was a complete great experience. Location was amazing. The hosts are talkative and friendly. Thanks for a great B & B experience.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at Ashby House at the beginning of July, 2015. We found the place to be delightful, quirky, and exactly the kind of B&B experience we hope for. We had the large front bedroom with private bath. It was comfortable, clean (no odors, despite one reviewer's plaint)and furnished straight out of the turn of the (last) century. We loved it. The owners were gems, turning out delicious breakfasts and dispensing good conversation and tips. The books they have! I wanted to be snowbound there for an entire winter. Perfect location for walking virtually the entire city. We sat on their front porch for hours watching the world walk by. If you usually book suites when you travel, look elsewhere. If you search for squeaky floors, hidden doors, and another era, you've found it!

I have stayed there for 1 week and I will really recommend this b&b.The Hosts are very nice and helpful, breakfast was very good and the Location is perfect to stay there without car, because you can reach everything in Walking distance. The room and the bed (Oscar Wilde) was very comfortable. The surrounding area is very quiet with many trees, anyway, it takes you just a few minutes to be downtown. For me number 1 of b&bs!!!Thank you very much!

Lovely house full of character! As a female travelling alone for 3 nights I was made to feel very comfortable. This B&B is in a great location and I was able to walk everywhere I wanted to go. Mary Anne and Robin were great breakfast companions and the food was great. I will be back again.

We absolutely loved our stay at Ashby House - Marianne and Robin made us feel so welcome. Our room was lovely and comfortable, the breakfasts superb - loved the bacon especially! The location is fantastic as we had no car, and we were able to walk everywhere. During our 4 day stay we visited Stanley Park, the Chinese Gardens, Granville Island, etc. We loved downtown Vancouver and all the gorgeous restaurants. Thank you Marianne and Robin for all your wonderful suggestions, your generosity, and your delightful company . Highly recommended B & B

A magical place to stay. Books and great conversation abound- -not for minimalists, not for people who gotta have their TV fix--but for folks who love folks and enjoy exploring other points of view. Artifacts...imagination...creativity...and a marvelous cat and dog. The best!

Very quiet B and B in a walking distance of everywhere in Vancouver. Very nice breakfast and a lot of talk with Mary Anne, Robin and other guests. Very clean room in a nice house. The young yellow cat entertain us.

We stayed here for two nights in August 2013 in the Oscar Wilde Room. We chose this B&B because of the walking distance to Downtown and Stanley Park. It was the first time that we stayed in a B&B and we really enjoyed it. The breakfast was always very delicious and we liked to talk with Mary Anne, Robin and the other guests. Our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!

- Ildiko & Thomas, from Austria 28 September 2013

We felt nearly at home at Ashby House during one week. Marieanne and Robin where so kind with us taking time to explain and describe history, art, way of life, literature within Vancouver, We remember breakfasts, the time to share experiences and discoveries. That was useful to well appreciate every day spend around. We very recommend Ashby house B&B, close to Stanley park.

We try to stay once a year at Ashby House. The location is fabulous for walking up and down Robson, all over the city and Stanley Park. Owners are delightful and make delicious breakfasts. You can stay a week and breakfast is never repeated. Rooms are lovely and spacious and front porch is a delight to sit and watch the locals walk by.

We stayed in June 2009 and we're so glad we chose this B&B. A warm welcome, a beautifully kept home with wonderful period atmosphere and huge delicious breakfasts. Ideally situated for sightseeing, shopping and eating out. Our only regret is not being able to stay longer. Very highly recommended.

- John & Camille Ogden, from Kendal, UK 17 August 2009

We stayed here in early summer 2008. We enjoyed the time a lot. It is a lovely place in downtown Vancouver, in walking distance to the beaches, Stanley Park, and it is nearby Robson Street. The hosts are very friendly, the breakfast was excellent, and everything was very clean. I would definitely stay here again!

- Peter, from Krefeld, Germany 16 October 2008

Very nice place to stay! I was in town on business and enjoyed a home away from home! My room was clean. The bed was very comfortable. The cat is awesome! My hosts were friendly and helpful. The house & street are quiet, but are a short walk from everything Vancouver has to offer. The front porch is beautiful. I'll stay here again if I'm in Vancouver!
