L'Auberge Clemence feels like a home away from home. We always have a great time in this beautiful historic building. The hosts are absolutely wonderful people. Thank you Jean & Linda for this one of a kind, incredible experience.

- Caleb Friesen, from Winnipeg 1 December 2019

My bridesmaids and myself spent the night before the wedding here. Our hosts were very accommodating, allowing us to have our hair and makeup team attend in the morning as well as the photographer. The hearty breakfast that was served to us got our day started off on the right foot. The antiques and the beautiful pond area were a great backdrop for our photos.

- Lise, 16 July 2018

We stayed here August 10 to the 14th for a family wedding in Stonewall. This is a gorgeous old building with lots of character. Linda made us an awesome breakfast each morning and was an amazing hostess and easy to talk to. We definitely recommend this place to stay.

- Deb and Chris Arnold, from Chatham, Ontario 19 September 2017

We stayed here from July 1 to July 7 2017. My husband and I with our 2 younger ones, really enjoyed our stay. We had the whole 3 floor and only shared with one other couple whom were a delight. They were very patient with us and my kids loved them. We even became Facebook friends. Linda an Jean were very accommodating an even when I was in need of rescuing with a laundry crisis they were so helpful. Breakfast every morning was the best, especially being a hot breakfast! We came and left as we pleased and had a ton of fun. The little town has cute convenience store were we got fantastic ice cream.

- Jen and Joel Aquin, from Beaumont, AB 21 July 2017

The "September Girls" celebrated our 10th year at L'Auberge in 2016! We love this place and Jean and Linda are awesome hosts! Accommodations are clean and roomy; the entire 3rd floor is ours! We tried the Escape Room last year and with a little help from the 'voice up high' ;), we managed to get out of the room. We are already booked for September 2017 and look forward to our weekend getaway and another attempt to escape the room!

- Helga, Anne, Karen, Susan, Sheri & Bonita, from Winnipeg 18 April 2017

Our team has been using L'Auberge for the past four years (minus one) for our annual retreat. It has fit us perfectly each time with more than enough space to accommodate our team. The bedrooms are all unique and its been fun to be able to experience each one over the years. The living room and dining room have been perfect for our meetings and lunches and the hot tub for relaxing. Being from Winnipeg, it's been great to remove ourselves from the city and come to L'Auberge. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality. And, when we have forgotten things, delivering them to our door!

- Amanda Leighton, from Winnipeg, Manitoba 1 February 2016

We've stayed at L'Auberge Clemence 3 times over the past 4 years. We've used it for a retreat for a small team and have found it a great place to stay. The facilities are comfortable, the breakfasts are classic, the hottub is spectacular and the hospitality is warm and friendly. Thanks! (and we'll see you next year!)

- Andy, from Winnipeg 27 January 2016

Auberge is a wonderful family destination. Our family with two teenagers enjoyed darts, the hot tub, cross country skiing in Beaudry Park ( only abut 15 min away). One highlight was the intriguing escape room. Solving mysteries and codes, discovering what is hidden, opening locks, and exploring surprises is all part of this exhilarating experience..occasionally there was a helpful hint or comment from above ( Linda?) Different ages will enjoy this treasure of a bed and breakfast. Breakfasts were delicious. The garden/park is stunning in any season. Other great features are; spacious rooms, beautiful paintings, whimsical objects and, a well stocked games cupboard,. The hosts Jean and Linda are caring, pleasant, and accommodating.. The place is child friendly and dog friendly as well. --

- Janice, from Winnipeg. MB 31 December 2015

Talk about heavenly. This Bed and Breakfast Inn is breathtakingly beautiful during the Christmas season. The well placed decorations give you a welcoming, joyous feeling. Our family of 13 stayed for 2 nights in the most comfortable beds, roomy accommodations to be found. We played, we visited, we ate. The bonus of our stay was their NEW ESCAPE rooms which we just had to try. Linda gave us an awesome run down of how it worked( because we just had no idea on what was to come)and encouraged us with enthusiasm and video introduction to help ease us into this whole process of mind challenging fun of escape. Thank you Linda and Jean for a Great Event in our family holiday!!

- Susan and Dennis Kadobiansky ~w~family, from New Bothwell,Blumenort,MB 21 December 2015

We have been going to the L'Auberge Clemence Inn every September for a girls' weekend since 2007. We enjoy the accommodation; having the entire third floor to ourselves! We thoroughly enjoy the solitude whether relaxing in the hot tub or sipping our wine sitting around the table on the deck. Linda and Jean are very friendly and kind and always accommodating our needs. We always finish the weekend off with a delicious and totally filling breakfast served to us on the Sunday morning! We will be back in 2016! The "September Girls": Helga, Bonita, Susan, Anne, Sheri & Karen... :)

We had the most wonderful 2 day stay. Jean and Linda are extremely lovely people and are filled with information on the local scene. They are both great cooks. We had two terrific breakfasts and also made a reservation for dinner one night. It was soooo good! We were told that the trains might be noisy but they weren't at all. The walls of the building are so thick you don't hear anything outside your space. The deck, the pond filled with koi, the gardens and landscaping were simply beautiful. I would recommend this great B & B to anyone.

- Martin and Jacquie Dufresne, from Rainy River, Ontario 13 July 2015

What a gem in the rough. Had a wonderful stay with great hosts Linda and John. Hot tub was awesome after a day riding and the breakfast was just right. and the price you couldn't beat. I would recommend this place to all that need to get away.

- Corrie, from Kenora, Ontario 15 July 2014

Jean and Linda were wonderful we spent the night for my wife's birthday, and the attention to detail and all of the personal touches were fantastic. I would recommend and will recommend this bed and breakfast to everyone. Absolutely fantastic!!!

Had an amazing girls night at the B&B. Such a warm, welcoming atmosphere and the food was to die for. You felt at home from the moment you arrived.

- Haley, from Winnipeg, MB 18 February 2014

What a great place to go to celebrate any kind of event. Everything was superb, including the hot tub in -16C weather. The meals are done exquisitely,so tasty and delicious with an atmosphere to go with it. The bedrooms have their own themes which lends to a peacefully night's rest. What a blessing to be there with a good bunch of women.

- Mariette Rivard, from Wiinipeg, MB 25 November 2013

Our lunch date for 8 at the auberge was wonderful! Good food, attractively served, very private. I'm looking forward to coming back. Linda and Jean from notre dame de lourdes.

- Linda and Jean, from Notre dame de Lourdes 1 November 2013

My daughter, Grace, gifted me a nights stay with her for my birthday and we had a wonderful time. Nothing can describe being in the hot tub in the cool fall air with a clear starry sky. It was as close to Heaven that there is. Breakfast was wonderful the next morning with good food prepared by Jean and good conversation provide by Linda. Thank you both so much and thank you, Grace, the most wonderful daughter. October, 2013

The moment my sister and I drove up to the beautiful convent turned into a B&B Antique Tea house I knew it was the place that I wanted to be married.

The landscaping/Gardening was like something you see at a park or out of a professional Home and Garden magazine.

The inside of the building was just as amazing as the outside, filled with glorious Antiques and many other wonderful treasures, all combined together to give you a warm and comfy "just like home" kind of feeling.

The Best part of it all though were Jean and Linda. As soon as Linda knew that we wanted to be married there she did everything she could to help us create our very special day.

From the rehearsal to the night before the wedding Linda and Jean made us feel like we were just at home-they were very accommodating and flexible and allowing us to decorate the dining room the way we wanted for our reception, they allowed us too choose what glassware we wanted for the reception meal, and would even allow us to bring in our own if we had wanted too.

The meal was AMAZING my guests are still speaking of it to this day-Jean is an outstanding chef, I would recommend eating at the L'Auberge to anyone.

The warmth and genuine kindness of this couple made our stay with them much more special than we ever expected.

The L'Auberge has a very special Aura surrounding them as well, special things happen when you stay there.

For Example-my sister had been looking for a hairdresser to do her hair in Elie or surrounding area the night before the wedding, so she would not have to drive back into the city- but no luck could not find anyone-turns out the night before the wedding while talking to Linda about our breakfast the next morning and what time we wanted it etc, well when mentioning that my sister had to drive back into the city, Linda laughed and said she had a hair-dresser staying with her and so my sister was able to have her hair done right there in the building the morning of the wedding.

Another special moment that makes me think that there was something "special in the air" was the day of my wedding-the past week was terrible weather and my wedding day turned out to be Beautiful just perfect not to hot not to cold and sunny blue skies.

I know this is long lol but there are not enough words to try and express how special this place really is and how extra special Jean and Linda are.

I will never forget how Jean went out of his way to save a very special part of our ceremony.

I had lost my Mom about three years ago and really wanted her to be a part of our ceremony-so long story short, My Dad and my sister were growing one of my Moms favorite plant's for me to have sitting on my Mom's favorite Rooster chair and then a picture of My Mom and Dad together.

Turns out the night before the wedding we were so busy decorating we forgot about the plant's outside and they froze-the next morning my sister went outside to get everything ready and she was devastated.

Jean with his huge heart had kindly agreed to letting my sister transplant a flower from his Amazing Garden to replace the one that froze-it was so very kind of him.

But wait... it gets better lol while my sister was cleaning up from the plant's, I had went outside to check things out- while I was out there Jean had pulled up in his car and came over to me and saw me looking at the plant that was frozen- he had asked me if I knew what kind of plant it was I said I was not sure, my sister would know though I just had said it was My Mom's favorite lol and Jean walked back to his car and the next thing you know this man with the most amazing heart ever, came up to me with a plant in his hand and said is this the one? He had gone and bought a similar plant that looked just like the one that we had grown-and gave it to us for the ceremony-Both my sister and I were incredibly moved and touched by this act of kindness-it will be a very special memory for me to have forever of my wedding day-My Mom was a huge part of our lives and to have Jean help us to have my Mom be a part of our ceremony is something that I will never forget.

So if your looking for the most amazing beautiful park like setting in a very cozy atmosphere to have a very small wedding then Jean and Linda at the L'Auberge is where you want to be. They are a definite five out of five, and chances are really good that you will have "special things" happen to you while you stay with them as well. Debi and Jerry Arnaud

I've been on the road for the last five months, and the last three nights have been the most pleasant this year. The owners, Jean and Linda, have provided superb customer service and the warmest hospitality one could receive.

P.S. They're also amazing chefs; I didn't get a chance to have dinner, but the breakfast was the best in Manitoba!

- Danny Hua, from Calgary, AB 31 August 2012

What a wonderful, well-run Inn. My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Jean & Linda's place on New Year's Eve and enjoyed great meals, warm hospitality and a wonderful historic location.

My only complaint was that we liked the tempur-pedic bed so much that we had to go out and buy one for our home.

Thank you Jean & Linda, we count on seeing you both again.

Grad from the first running of the Meditation Reiki Retreat Testimonial from the Feb 18th session

Monica is very upbeat & inspirational. Welcomes questions and is very knowledgeable. A natural teacher as healing & spreading joy & love is a way of life.

The B&B is a great place to stay. Lots of character, history & charm. Delicious food, artfully presented. John & Linda are very accommodating and make sure you have what you need to enjoy your stay.

I enjoyed the weekend immensely, it was too short. Got to know what Reiki was about and how to heal myself and send love & peace to others. Enjoyed the chanting and different meditations. Feeling relaxed & rejuvinated.

feb 18th session of the mediation Reiki Retreat, next class mar 4 weekend

Monica is an inspiration to those who are newly discovering the power of energy work and meditation. She exudes love and light to all in her presence.

The mansion is a step back in time with the most gracious hosts you could possibly wish for. With its charming atmosphere and delicious meals guests truly feel they have been on vacation.

The course material was informative and interesting, plenty of variety, a great intro to meditative music.

I feel rejuvinated, rested and ready to face the world again. I feel I was able to process and release old fears and move forward in a positive way.

The B&B.. was I ever surprised to pull into the driveway of this Giant beautiful old mansion! Birds chirping in the trees outside, a hottub on the deck and the most beautifully decorated interior I've ever seen. Not to mention the deeelicious homemade meals yum! A relaxing and luxurious environment.

Monica..This wonderfully pleasant teacher presents Reiki and meditation in a profound and loving way making it easy and relaxing to learn. She offers a variety of spiritual/meditative theories and practices to let us find one that suits our own wants, needs & vibration. Also extremely beneficial was all the resources she has to offer(music, websites, books, ppl).. etc

Me: Before weekend :) at conclusion of weekend :D Having been meditating for almost a year now I was expecting to get a lot more out of the Reiki portion of the class. As it turns out however, I benefited just as much from the meditations in that I got so much more out of them that I've never had. partly the ...group setting & partly the Reiki & environment made the the most profound and enjoyable spiritual experience I've ever had.

Everyone said they had a wonderful time at our wedding. A few people even said that it was the best wedding they ever attended. Linda and Jean were really knowledgeable, flexible, and helpful. The food was great and they really helped out with the details of the wedding and helped make our guests feel comfortable. Our suite was very peaceful and the hot tub was a dream. Breakfast was excellent! We are glad to have had our wedding here and it was everything we wanted.

Review in The Stonewall Angus Newspaper by Jessie July 10/09 A few weeks ago I joined a few of the ladies from Marquette for lunch at L'Auberge Clemence the Inn on the Prairie and Bed and Breakfast in Elie. The gardens were not yet in full bloom but must be magnificent by now. The yard is picturesque and has been the back drop for many photo shoots. Following a very delicious lunch from a menu of quite a few choices, the best Apparagus Soup I ever eaten, we toured the three floors of guest rooms, a chapel and gift store. The rooms are decorated very tastefully and are quite spacious. If you are in the area and have time for an enjoyable lunch give them a call ahead as you may have to wait if they are busy.

L'Auberge Clemence is definitely a jewel in the middle of the prairies. What a fantastic place. For anyone travelling in Manitoba don't miss seeing this unique place. Great people, great relaxing atmosphere and hottub, spiritual surroundings (chapel) and gift shop.
