Wonderful experience! Warm & gracious hostess, her home was like a museum with historical pieces & notes. Her homemade treats and breakfast were delicious. We loved every part of our stay!

- Steve & Terri, from Michigan 27 July 2019

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. Patricia is a wonderful host -- so friendly and helpful, and an awesome cook. The sticky buns are amazing. We felt totally at home and enjoyed hearing her stories and seeing the antiques.

- Linda Klufas, from Barrhead 15 July 2019

Patricia was a gracious host and when registering provided a tour of her historic home. Our room was lovely and spacious. Breakfast was great and her homemade 'sticky buns' were wonderful. A great place to stay.

- Terry and Cath, from Kimberley, BC 31 August 2018

We have been to this B&B twice, last time 2010 and intend to visit again in 2018 in Sept. Best B&B we have ever been to and now since they have handicap room that is even better. And Pat's sticky buns are to die for.

I'm sure people must run out of superlatives when it comes to reviewing Pat and her historic home. A minor mix-up when we first arrived was promptly and professionally resolved, and we were able to relax in our spacious suite and enjoy some chilled refreshments in the garden gazebo. Island view is a heritage house and mini museum of which Pat is understandably proud, and she encourages guests to explore and take pictures. An evening snack of homemade 'sticky' buns (suitably heated in the microwave for 18 seconds) really hit the spot. Breakfast was a real spread - accommodating every possible taste. Porridge, cereal, eggs any way, bacon, toast, and of course homemade jams (the best we'd encountered yet). Pat went out of her way to make our stay and that of the other guests a memorable one, even spending considerable time helping a couple find accommodation in St. John's. Thank you Pat. By the way those date squares we took with us were delicious.

- Jennifer & Glen Smith, from Duncan BC 22 August 2016

Out stay here in June 2016 was wonderful. Patricia is very helpful hostess. Her home is gorgeous (real museum!) and breakfast with homemade jams and buns was delicious. This BB has the very nice and convenient location. Highly recommend it to others!

- Elen, from Winnipeg 20 July 2016

What a lovely Bed & Breakfast! Patricia Devine welcomes her guests with home baking (love those sticky buns & partridge berry muffins, spacious rooms, a collection of antiques (especially dolls) for all to enjoy! The location is ideal for touring the Bonavista Peninsula -- visit Trinity, Random Passage, etc. only a few hours away. We had a terrific time and Patricia is a delightful hostess & extremely helpful with travel suggestions.

- Donna & Cal Musgrave, from Winnipeg, Manitoba 31 October 2015

We were able to stay at this B&B on quite short notice. Extremely welcoming and hospitable. In the evening, we were encouraged to partake of homemade pastries and tea on the gazebo as the sun went down over the bay. Quite and soul-refreshing. Breakfast was substantial. The Hospitaliere has fabulous artifacts of the "Newfoundland of Yesteryear" and is a wealth of information on the area. Excellent facility, and reasonably priced.

- Heather Sandilands, from Manitoba 31 August 2015

Our stay at Islandview B&B was so nice we returned for a second night! Comfortable, clean, welcoming home with an awesome host! Pat is a great source of tourist info, and she makes the most delicious sticky buns you will ever eat!! Can't wait to go back!

- Jackie & Peter, from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia 9 August 2015

My family and I had an amazing stay at this lovely B&B. We stayed at 6 B&Bs on our 8 day trip to Newfoundland and this is our favourite. Patricia is a great host. The place is clean and very comfortable. Her cinnamon buns and cinnamon toasts are to die for. Patricia knew how much we loved her cinnamon buns that she packed three of them for us when we chekced out. I can't wait to go back to Newfoundland again so that I could stay here and eat her amazing cinnamon buns and toasts.

- Juliana Pang, from Toronto, Canada 2 July 2015

We were highly recommended to stay at Island View by a friend.. We stayed there just one night while passing tru. Pats hospitality was above and beyond, and wished we could have stayed another night.. Her sticky buns are amazing. Thumbs up Pat..See you again this year.

- Debbie and John, from Carbonear 16 June 2014

We loved the Island View B & B!! Our room was cozy & spotless. Pat made us feel so welcome when we arrived, providing a tour of her lovely home. She offered us her famous sticky buns, which I already knew about, and sure enough, such a treat! Delicious! Thankyou, Pat. We will always cherish our vacation in Newfoundland and your warm welcome was 'icing on the cake'!

- Barbara & Randy Thomson, from Gravenhurst, Ontario 3 October 2013

Stayed at Pat's B&B a couple of times w/my brothers. Pat is a fantastic hostess, her sticky buns are the best. I'm bringing my daughter and her husband in July. Pat, please save a space for us. I feel it is the best, most friendly B&B anywhere on the island.

- Bea Demmer, from Denver, Colorado 19 June 2013

This b&b is under-rated @ 3-1/2 star. The hostess is absolutely charming and breakfast was excellent. This should be rated @ least a 5 star.

- Marilyn Mackenzie, from Ontario 24 September 2012

Beautiful place, great view of the Sound, excellent hospitality. Best of all: the first B&B where the coffee and snacks were self serve, need my early morning coffee.

- Bill, from London, On 31 July 2012

this home was full of antiques and family photos...we were met by Pat who showed us around and made us feel instantly at home...there is tea and coffee out for guests, plus, she is a great baker and her sticky buns (out all day long) were addictive. Breakfast was great with a variety of home made jams and muffins...nice room with private bath...would stay here again if we were in the ares

- Anonymous, 8 July 2012

My mother and I stayed here in 2004 and just loved it. The gazebo was so calming and the view awesome. The breakfasts were delicious and a wide variety of food. It was very homey and cozy. And that is why I am staying there this year. We are going to stay for 7 days and do day trips and when we come back it will be like coming home. We are driving there and will be taking the ferries. What an adventure this will be for us.

- Nancy Rourke, from New Liskeard, Ontario 30 May 2012

Warm hospitality. Patricia attends to your needs as if you were family. Breakfast is something to write home about. I highly recommend the place! would love to visit again!

- Doreen Huneault, from ottawa ontario 25 March 2012

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful two day stay at the Island View in August 2011. The hospitality and accommodations were the best we ever experienced in a B&B anywhere and turned a cool, foggy Newfoundland summer into a warm enjoyable experience. We recommend it highly.

- Daryl Cowell, from Tobermory, Ontario 26 October 2011

Our stay at the Island View this past summer was just great. Pat's Newfoundland friendliness and hospitality is second to none (except for the Irish of course). Food is wonderful and the rooms are very comfortable. Hopefully,we will return to visit soon again.....

- Bertha & Gerard Rousell, from Orono, Ontario 16 September 2011

Lovely B&B, gracious hostess. This property is worthy of mention

- Peter, from Toronto 22 June 2011

We would like to recommend this Bed & Breakfast to everyone. Pat made us extremely welcome - wonderful food & sticky buns in particular. She is also a wealth of area information and gave us extremely good advise on places to visit we had not already thought of. We told friends we met on the road of her B&B & they also decided to stay with her. They agreed she has a marvelous welcoming B&B. Thank you Pat -- do hope you survived Hurricane Igor - we have thought of you often since we started to see the news. damage

- Gail & Jerry Dakin, from Gibsons (Vancouver area), B.C. 8 October 2010

We stumbled upon this B&B, but it was certainly one of the highlights of our week in Newfoundland. Pat, the owner, is absolutely WONDERFUL. She is such a loving, caring, thoughtful person. She has incredible baked goods, jams, and tea available all day! Breakfast was fantastic too!!! She even made us fresh jam to take home with us.

Her house is lovely, the guests have the whole main floor and upstairs too! Private bath, comfy beds, ocean view!!!! She also has a museum of sorts in her house. You can learn all about newfoundland from Pat too!

Highly recommend!!!!!!! Great place, 2 hours from St. John's and 30 minutes to Trinity, 1 hour to Bonavista!

- Krista Hapke, from Burlington, ON 2 August 2010

My family and I have been graced with Pat's generousity on a number of occasions during visits to Clarenville requiring overnight stays during the past few years. A warmer, friendlier person with an equally warm and cheery home could not be found anywhere. We anticipate our stays with Pat and samples of her famously delicious 0 calorie sticky buns!

- Sophia Pittman, from Marystown, Newfoundland 17 March 2010

Patricia is a very dedicated person. She is making you feel at home and is very caring among her guests. Plentiful of warmth and generous and very positive woman. Very nice place and very well decorated with beds extremely comfortable. Quality/price #1.

We had a wonderful stay at Pat's house. We felt like we were family as soon as we arrived. The house is beautiful. Pat is a fantastic cook. Pat's knowledge of the area, and it's history is amazing. Our room was very comfortable, and we had an excellent breakfast in the morning. We hated to leave, and we are looking forward to staying with Pat again.

- Jim & Linda Mason, from Hudson, New Hampshire USA 24 July 2009

What a welcoming, comfortable, homey environment. Pat is a wonderful hostess and her famous sticky buns are delicious. (I also was lucky enough to partake of her delightful partridge berry muffins) Pat is incredibly knowledgable about the area and was a great help with all travel questions. Her home is easy to find and the accommodations were clean and relaxing.

- Kristine, from Duluth, Minnesota 21 July 2009

pat truly owns her last name... her hospitality and generosity isn't anything short from DEVINE! while travelling to st.johns unexpectedly the weather demanded us to stay in clarenville. now i see it as a blessing as we got to experience the island view hospitality b & b. the whole experience is authentically newfie, oral stories and jokes around the dinner table....with goooood home cookin. i am deeply grateful to you pat for giving with your whole heart in our time of need.

- chantal, from guelph, ontario 22 February 2009

We extended our stay from one night, to three, because it was such a great place to stay. Pat went beyond being a hostess, to become our friend. It was truly home-away-from-home. It should be rated 5 stars!!!!

Thanks for everything Pat. You made us feel very special.

- Theresa and Gerard, from Kelowna, B.C, 8 September 2008

We spent a week at Pat's lovely home, and it was truly a unique experience. Her baking is beyond yummy, the museum full of wonderful historical artifacts, and she is the perfect hostess! We were able to have the house as our base as we visited the many beautiful sites of the Bonavista and Trinity areas. Oh, and let me mention her homemade jams, lip smacking!! Thanks Pat for helping to make our vacation special.

- Deb and Alfredo Tumangday, from Oshawa Ontario 30 August 2008

- zhen yin, from St.John's, Canada 10 May 2008

what a lovely place! Pat is the nicest hostess anyone can have and the inn really is a home away from home. Will surely return on my next trip.

- Suying Wang, from Halifax, NS 27 April 2008

my first time to stay at a B&B place was at the Island View, Mrs. Pat Devine's place. It was just spactacular!! I made history there because Ms. Devine made me sticky toutons. She said I was the first to have her toutons along with her sticky buns. They were delicious!!! Very morish,(always want more) Unfortunately, she did not want to share her secret recipe. Most of all I thought Mrs. Devine was a very friendly lady and made you feel just like home. Hospitality was great!! Home was sure cozy!! If you read this , Mrs. Devine, I thank you again for all the generosity you showed us during our stay at your historical house. I also found all the artifacts interesting. Melanie , Burin, NL

- Melanie, from Burin, NL 23 March 2008

We spend a night at "Pat's Place" last year in May, which we enjoyed very much. The other guests' company, Pat's efforts and her hospitality, the yummy baked goodies will sure let us return to the Island View should we head towards Newfoundland again.

- Kirsten & Karsten, from Germany 13 February 2008

In October we spent a night at Patricia's lovely guesthome, were so impressed we booked for another night the following week on our way back from western NFLD. Patricia's company and cinnamon buns were wonderful! We would highly recommend this delightful Bed and Breakfast.
