dot Bondy House Bed & Breakfast
We had a delightful overnight stay at the Bondy House in Amherstburg. The location is perfect for walking the main streets and enjoying the waterfront. The peaceful and beautiful backyard featuring a pond and lovely vegetation was the perfect spot to enjoy conversation with our hosts, Merv and Carolyn. Comfy bed and private bath made for a good evening followed by a delicious breakfast the next morning. We will definitely make this a stop on our next visit to the area!

Bondy House is a fantastic B and B in a wonderful location, close to the water front, restaurants, and points of interest. Merv and Carolyn were fabulous hosts, and made us feel right at home. A very relaxed and comfortable place to rest at the end of a busy day. Amherstberg is a gorgeous place to visit. Highly recommend this B and B!

- Patricia McGovern, from Ottawa, Ontario 28 May 2019

Lovely B&B!! Clean, well located, and with incredible sweet and kind owners who will do their best to make your stay a great one. They have great advise for activities and places to eat while in town. Try the fluffy scramble eggs and homemade fresh croissants!!

- Julia Marquez Perozo, 29 November 2018

Excellent B&B experience. Highly recommend. From the moment you arrive on this lovely street and enter this Victorian home from 1904 you will be well taken care of by hosts Carolyn Davies & Merv Richards plus several of their friends. Of the 3 theme rooms we enjoyed our room the "Dream Catcher" with ensuite, very comfortable bed, air conditioned and soundproof. Our stay was enhanced by attention to detail in all areas from hosting, decor, table settings and delicious breakfast and many room amenities such as a frig, robes and toiletries books etc. The common room was in the turret with a charming window seat and offered Keurig coffee &tea and a filter water machine always cold or hot for a drink of your choice. With all that add the beautiful porch and gardens with a pond and waterfalls plus Merv's cooking of our breakfast. They were always helpful with directions and suggestions and it is so well located that several historic sites are within a few blocks of the house as well as excellent restaurants. We spent 4 nights and hopefully will return to enjoy again.

This was our first stay at a B&B, after staying at the Bondy House it definitely will not be our last. From the moment we arrived until we left it was absolutely amazing. We stayed in the Victorian Room, it was beautiful, so clean and we had everything we needed. We sat by the pond listening to the waterful so tranquil, I could have sat their for hours. Had coffee on the front porch in the morning. Breakfast was amazing! You definitely wont go hungry. What a great location walking distance to the Kings Navy Park, Fort Malden, restaurants. I will definitely recommend the Bondy House B&B to my friends and I will definitely go back and stay. Merv and Carolyn were absolutely wonderful, it felt like home away from home.

- Libby, from Woodstock, ON 20 August 2018

Our hosts were lovely and made us feel instantly comfortable. The bed extra comfy. Delicious breakfast and accommodation for my hubby. Exceptionally clean. Looking forward to booking again at this great B & B!

- Lisa and David Jensen, from Pefferlaw, ON 27 March 2018

Just spent an amazing 2 nights 3 day surprise weekend at Bondy Bed and Breakfast. WOW!!! Amazing hosts Merv and Carolyn!! They are so welcoming to guests in their home. Everything was so clean and homey. Made me not want to leave. They recommended great spots to eat and things to see. Conversations in the sitting room and offering hospitalities..the things you sure don't get at a big hotel. I want to wish them the best in 2018! The breakfasts were awesome and so polite and kind. It was like we were one of the family. The B&B is on our list for places to visit again for sure!!

- Robin & John McLenon, from Kerwood, Ontario 1 January 2018

Great spot! My husband and I spent the night in May. We stayed in the executive suite. Separate entrance, kitchenette, reading den, fireplace, balconies off each room entrance. Very clean, cozy and quaint. Right in the heart of town, across from the river. Would highly recommend.

- Jillian, from Toronto, ON 6 May 2017

I had the pleasure of staying at Bondy House B & B for a week in October 2016 as my daughter was getting married at Fort Malden. Bondy House is centrally located within Amherstberg and you can walk to most places of interest. It is a short walk to local shops and eateries. Carolyn and Merv were the most delightful hosts and nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend this accommodation.

- Ray Philpott, from Sydney. Australia 13 December 2016

I stayed here in the summer.. Very friendly, well kept lovely home. My daughter stays in town, and said I would love the old building.. She was right..

- Linda Pattison, from Toronto ON. 20 November 2016

What a warm and wonderful Bed and Breakfast experience. The hosts Carolyn and Merv were so welcoming and accommodating. And such and interesting couple too. Bondy House has been restored beautifully and is full of treasures that reflect the rich history of Amherstburg, with each bedroom decorated in a different theme and the public rooms also full of historical artifacts.Bondy House is centrally located and across from a mangnificent park on the waterfront. We will definitely be back again.

- Katherine Vyse and Greg Wells, from Toronto, Canada 5 September 2016

A wonderfully relaxing stay in a beautiful setting with a friendly and helpful hostess. My stay was mid-week in March and expect in the summer it must be even better! Highly recommended.

Here the same text in my poor english: We had very nice days in Amherstburg. These beautiful days in July 2015 had their base in the historic Bondy House at Carolyn. Merv, we have not met. Carolyn makes wonderful breakfast, unfortunately I could not fully appreciate it early in the morning, because there are good pubs in Amherstburg with good beer and nice people, which is why we came to bed later and later than planned. The poor condition after drinking is called in Germany "hangover". Carolyn has all rooms designed as theme rooms, very cozy and suitable for us: we were in the Native People room. Carolyn is taking care of her guests, she answered all the questions, she has tips and knows a lot about the historical background of the city. She let us use the extensive library of Bondy House, in short: she is a fine woman. Incidentally, Carolyn, you asked, how I liked the book about the War of 1812, which you have lent me: I thought it was quite outstanding, only the proportion about the Native people was not sufficiently appreciated with its large Tecumseh. Yes, and how did you said, Detroit is great. Everything was beautiful, we hope to come back again.

The moment we pulled up to the Bondy House we knew that our 5th wedding anniversary was going to be spectacular! The Bondy house is an outstanding Bed and Breakfast that provides its guests with an everlasting impression! Carolyn and Merv instantly made us feel at home and were two of the kindest people we have ever met. They catered to our individual needs and made us feel special. For example, during breakfast we were asked what meal we would enjoy – and did we ever enjoy Carolyn’s cooking! In addition, the décor, history and warmth the house provides stands out from any other bed and breakfast we have stayed at before. We would recommend this fabulous Bed and Breakfast to anyone who is looking to create memories of a lifetime! Not only is the Bondy House phenomenal, the location allowed us to explore the beauty of Amherstburg. We cannot wait to return to the private oasis of the Bondy House!

I loved this place. Went here for the wine festival weekend. This house has great character and the people are wonderful!

- trina lusse, from chatham ontario 29 October 2014

Our foursome Enjoyed our stay during recent Wine Festival. Very comfortable and clean. Our hosts Carolyn and Merv were accommodating to all our needs.

CAROLYN- Just want to thank you for the ginger chews. They did the trick! See you Wine Fest 2016 ...........Brenda

- Brenda, from Peterborough, ON 12 September 2014

The Bondy House is a beautiful home but the true beauty is in the people that own and run this place. Carolyn and Merv are two of the most gracious welcoming and hospitable people you would want to meet. Shortly after meeting them we felt like old friends rather than paying guests. Their front porch was a favourite gathering spot of all the patrons. It was a full house and lots of fun with some great people! Thanks for making our first b&b experience so enjoyable! You guys are awesome! Valerie was a great hostess too! Great breakfast!

- Tina & Jim Hawkins, from Forest 8 September 2014

Very beautiful and comfortable place. Merv and Caroline make their guests feel welcome, and like they're part of the family. It was our first time staying at a B and B, and we enjoyed it so much, we've already reserved 2 rooms for another stay, only we're bringing friends to spread the the love.

- Violet Mullen Walley, 6 September 2014

Serena and I have stayed here a dozen times .. It's my home away from home .. The kindest couple will host and make you the best breakfast in Amherstburg .. If I can't stay at Bondy House well .. It's not worth going to Amherstburg ..

- Anonymous, 21 July 2014

My boyfriend and myself had spent our first anniversary here for one night I really enjoyed our visit. We enjoyed a nice breakfast and a nice place to sit and drink tea first thing in the morning. The back yard is beautiful and relaxing. I wish I could of stayed another night. as soon as I walked in felt at home and relaxed. They made our first experience at a b and b very enjoyable and hope to come back soon.

- Tammy, from Harrow Canada 6 July 2014

Bondy Bed & Breakfast is a great place to stay any time of the Year. Merv & Carolyn make you feel at home. I would highly recommend this B & B to anyone. I'll be back soon!

- Edward & Connie, from Waterloo, Ontario 7 April 2014

We had the pleasure of spending one night at Bondy House & would recommend it to anyone. Caroline, the host was warm & welcoming from the moment we stepped in. We felt very comfortable & relaxed in this B & B. Caroline's knowledge of local history & her willingness to share this with us was delightful & left us wanting to know more about this area. The home was beautiful from the turrett, to the wood work, to the theme rooms. The hosts are doing a wonderful job of restoring & preserving this house. The rooms were very clean & tastefully decorated. The breakfast was delicious. It was pleasure to stay here!

- Barry & Cindy Rich, from Clearwater, B.C. 4 August 2013

We stayed here for two nights during our recent trip to Amherstburg and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The owners, Merv & Carolyn, are very friendly and make you feel especially at home. We enjoyed two wonderful breakfasts as well as lots of interesting history about the area. The location on Dalhousie Street is perfect. You're within easy walking distance of most of Amherstburg's best restaurants, attractions, and the riverfront. The house itself has a whimsical charm to it. Merv & Carolyn have done a wonderful job of decorating with beautiful furnishings & artwork to match the theme of each room.

- The Dale Family, from Barrie Ontario 10 July 2013

Bonjour Nous avons réservé une chambre au Bondy House et avons été accueilli chaleureusement par Carolyn et Merv. They really make us feel at home and cooked us great breakfast in the morning. Worm hosts. Always good conversation. Very tastefully decorated house and very comfortable rooms. The house and the area are steeped in history. Oh, and the garden is gorges.

- Janja Reilly, from Toronto 25 March 2013

I've visited with Carolyn and Merv a half dozen times now. They both lead very interesting lives and yet still find the time to focus on their passion - greeting guests like family and making them feel most welcome. Their house is a piece of history, but has all the modernity required for comfort. They prepare thoughtful breakfasts made from local ingredients. Their location is ideal - downtown next to all that Amherstberg has to offer. In a word. Wonderful! My only caution...to book early.

My wife and I had a short getaway to the Bondy house so I could get some kayaking in on the River Canard and the Detroit River around Boblo Island. The spotless Victorian house, incredible garden/pond and extremely warm reception were all wonderful !!! We cannot recommend Carolyn Davies' place enough ! This is why we stay at B&B's instead of hotels. Right in the middle of town on a beautiful street along the river. This feels like a new home away from home, so close but still "far" enough away from our normal daily.

- John and Martha Cooper, from Rochester Hills, Michigan 15 September 2012

We stayed at the Bondy House Bed & Breakfast to attend the Shores of Erie Wine Festival. It was literally across the street from the festival. Not only was it a convenient location, but it was an incredible place to stay. Carolyn was absolutely wonderful and so friendly from the minute she opened the door to greet us. We stayed in the Captain's room, and it was welcoming and clean and full of little touches that made you feel at home. Outside there is a magnificent garden and pond. It was our first time visiting Amherstburg, and I can guarantee that we will be back to stay at the Bondy House.

- Anonymous, from Clawson, Michigan 11 September 2012

Merv & Caroline. Thanks again for your wonderful hospitality. This was the third of our annual visits to Amherstburg and staying at Bondy House is a lot like visiting friends. We wouldn't want to stay anywhere else and look forward to sitting on your veranda next year, enjoying the evenings (including your concoctions), chatting, joking and learning all the interesting facts about Amherstburg and its residents. You have a beautiful house with interesting period details and the room is always cosy and comfortable. Next year, Jessica wants to learn how you put together those tasty and photogenic breakfast dishes that you serve up. See you then.

- Mike & Jessica, from Pickering, ON 27 August 2012

Great hosts,great breakfasts, great location!

Hi, Carolyn: Ian and I just wanted to thank you and Merv once again for a lovely stay. You have a beautiful home, and we loved the town and the people, and very much enjoyed ourselves at all the weekend events. We will most certainly keep you in mind if we are out that way again. Thank you again, and enjoy the rest of your summer. Good luck with all your many projects. Take care, Barb Baszczynski and Ian Harrison

Several of my family members have stayed at the Bondy House for the past 3 years during the Shores of Erie Wine Festival weekend. Each and every time, Carolyn and Merv and their BEAUTIFUL home have far exceeded our expectations! Their hospitality is kind, warm and responsive, the wonderful breakfasts are delicious and memorable and the rooms are clean, comfortable and georgeous. Highly recommend this B&B!

- Tish M., from Highland, MI 12 September 2011

Wonderful hosts. Attractive setting. Centrally located and within walking distance to the majority of the community.

Carolyn and Merv made us feel most welcome from the moment we arrived!

Thanks for the stay (July 10-11, 2009, Dream-catcher room)

- Kevin and Barbara Duguay, from Peterborough, Ontario 12 July 2009

I stayed at the Bondy House over the Fouth of July weekend 2008. I had a wonderful time! Carolyn is a magnificant host and a great cook! She is also wonderful to hang out with. I loved everything about my visit and I definitely plan to return. If she doesn't have availability when I return, I will reschedule my trip to be able to stay at her beautiful home!

Stay there! You won't be disappointed!

- Sharon Hicks-Bartlett, from Chicago, IL USA 24 July 2008

Hello Carolyn,

Well I see that nobody ever wrote on this wall... So wich good things could I say about this establishment.

It is just an amazing place to be. It is a place where quiteness and beauty make an delicious cocktail. The pond in the back of the house is filled with many fishes and the path to get there is made of leafs.

The people that welcome you are great and they know so many things about the area, you'll enjoy that.

And to finish, the beds are gorgeous!!! One in those and never again you will want to go back home=).
