dot 1775 Solomon House Bed and Breakfast
I spent 3 nights at Solomon House in September 2017, when visiting Nova Scotia for the first time by myself. I arrived knowing nothing about Lunenburg. Janet was a wealth of information, and gave wonderful advice on what there was to do, both locally in Lunenburg and for day trips. She recommended the Kitchen Party in the church after dinner on my first night, restaurants to try and shows to see, places to visit, walking tours to enjoy. She described to me in detail how to spend a wonderful day trip down the coast – where to drive, which ferry to take and where to shop and eat. Her advice was spot on! And then there is her wonderful collection of books about the area, her breakfasts which are spectacular (no lunch required) and the house itself which is amazing if you love history and antiques. Just ask about the house and their antiques and you will be enthralled by stories for hours by Janet or George. My experience at Solomon House was the highlight of my entire Nova Scotia holiday!

What a lovely place to stay. This heritage house is beautiful and filled with wonderful antiques. Janet your ginger muffins were delicious. Your suggestions for dinner on on the balcony at the Fish Shack was a good one. When visiting a UNESCO heritage site, it seems fitting to stay in one of its oldest buildings! Thanks for a great visit.

Thank you, Janet and George, for your wonderful hospitality - you made us feel like we were visiting family. And Janet, those scones were delicious! Thank you again for everything, and we hope to visit you again soon!

Thank you Janet for assisting me with my short stay in my dad's hometown of Lunenburg. He grew up (from 1900 to WWI) across the street from you at 49 Cornwallis. I added Lunenburg to my/our itinerary at the last minute knowing I may not get back anytime soon. You stayed up for my potential late arrival. You arranged a walking tour. Thanks to you I didn't waste a minute of my one almost-whole day. School and cemetery visits added bonus. Scrub cleaning tombstone.. visit to genealogy library.. and where my Aunt Hebb used to live.. so many great memories. I treasure your hospitality.

What a fantastic homestay this is and Janet is a lovely host who has thought of everything to make her guests' stay memorable. Solomon House is a beautiful period home with lots of authentic character features and a great breakfast with lots of goodies to keep you going.

Perfect hospitality, with care taken in every detail. Thank you so much for all of the recommended adventures, which added immeasurably to an already beautiful holiday. And for the packed up ginger rhubarb scones-we will certainly be returning for more!

The 1775 Solomon House is a history and antique lover's dream. This lovely, antique furnished house is a piece of history in the attractive eastcoast town of Lunenburg. The innkeeperess, Janet, is gracious and very helpful with ideas for dining and activities in the area. The breakfast was varied and delicious and inn's atmosphere conducive to easy conversation with fellow guests.
