We just returned form PEC where we stayed at this B&B- we were so happy there- Room was lovely and it was so quiet, Nature was a wake to my senses- the River and the swans in the morning, the trees across and so many birds! all this took all stress away- Hosts are so attentive and it was so interesting to talk with them - their home is an art museum and I loved the tea table- the breakfast was so elegant and delicious- Thanks so much !!!

- Nurith, from Toronto 9 October 2018

This was the second time we have been guests at Black River. We have often been disappointed the second time around because our expectations had been set a little high due to first impressions. Not so in the case of Black River. It was everything we expected: great hosts, fantastic breakfasts, first class accommodations. Conrad and Brian so knowledgeable that everything is a learning experience. We seem to come away being much more intelligent every time we visit. As I indicated after our first visit, this is not just a B&B. This is an experience to be enjoyed and remembered.

- George, from Toronto 9 October 2018

Outstanding! What comes above 5 star, because the Black River B&B has achieved it. The room was spotless and very spacious, the setting was so relaxing that one cannot be blamed for wanting to stay much longer. Then there is the incredible breakfasts; Conrad puts meticulous thought and skill into each meal, it would shame some high end restaurants. Brian is so knowledgeable about the area and shares all the insider best spots. Together they could write Masters book on how to run B&B. We'll be back

- Don & Linda, 30 September 2018

We love the County. It has so much to offer. One of its treasures is Black River Bed & Breakfast. We returned there this August and were once again treated to a wonderful experience by Brian and Conrad. The rooms are lovely, the breakfasts are phenomenal and the hosts are delightful. If you go to Prince Edward County, stay at Black River BB. You will love it.

- Pierre and Cathy, from London, ON 20 September 2018

We chose to stay at the Black River Bed and Breakfast after hearing a previous guest rave about the breakfast. We were not disappointed. Conrad brings the definition of "foodie" up to a whole other level. Our room and adjacent bathroom were spacious and immaculate. Brian and Conrad are gracious hosts.

- Ginette Roy & Gerald Hamm, from Thunder Bay, ON 16 September 2018

Heavenly !!! Such a beautiful tranquil place. And one could not ask for more delightful hosts. Plus the fascinating decor & stories about art told by our hosts. I will come back asap.

- margot, from usa & ontario 6 September 2018

We are back again to the Black River B&B. There just isn't anyplace more welcoming, or more comfortable or more interesting to go - an all season wonderland with a beautiful view - and a perfect escape. the gourmet breakfast, all local produce and healthy to the last crumb will easily tide you over to dinner at any of the exceptional restaurants nearby. Thank you both so much again, Conrad and Brian.

- Beth and Gail, from Toronto and Collingwood 31 August 2018

My friend and I spent three nights at the Black River B&B. We have visited Prince Edward County many times. This was the first to stay in the southern part of the county. We found this B&B with its beautiful surroundings wonderful trees, wild flowers, birds and very peaceful river setting. Our hosts were very accommodating and willing shared information about the area, points of interest and restaurants. The accommodations including the breakfasts were A Plus.

- Barbara, from Napanee 31 August 2018

We had a wonderful stay at the B&B. Mornings were a highlight each day, because breakfast, prepared by Conrad, was one of the best, if not the best, we have had at a B&B. Three courses of inventive food, using local producers, some of whom we visited later. And we didn't need lunch afterward. It was also a time for fascinating stories by Brian and Conrad about their careers at the Royal Ontario Museum and about their collection. The house is in a wonderful, peaceful setting, right by the Black River, with a lot of different species of birds. Our room was large and very comfortable, and we loved the balcony. We followed many of the recommendations of Conrad and Brian about where to visit, and we were not disappointed. All in all, a really lovely place and lovely hosts, and we are already discussing when we could go back. As for PEC, there is lots to do - we were almost too busy, so next time we just need to relax and enjoy more time at the B&B!

- Tony and Anton, from Toronto 22 August 2018

The accolades from the other testimonials are accurate. Konrad and Brian are determined to ensure that their guests enjoy a world class experience. Nature surrounds this eclectic interior. NO TV, PARK YOUR PUTER AND PHONE and embrace the opportunity to decompress. The birds will provide entertainment as you gaze at the lovely background of the Black River. Breakfast will ruin anything you experience elsewhere. This is an over the top gourmet experience. You cannot buy this breakfast ANYWHERE! The opportunity to meet other travelers may offer a "6 degrees of separation" moment as it did for us!The ultimate hosts should be very proud!

- Michael and Jody, from Toronto 22 August 2018

It was our first time in Prince Edward County and we landed at the best spot - everything was perfect! The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The hosts were friendly, gracious, and helpful. The breakfasts were beyond delicious, along with being inventive and full of local flavour (on our way home we had to stop at the farm up the road to buy jam - which we'd first tasted at the breakfast table). The scenery at the B&B is likewise perfect for relaxing, from views of the river to all the birds that flock to the feeders. We would definitely return and highly recommend Black River B&B to anyone going to Prince Edward County.

- Amanda, from Toronto 18 August 2018

We really liked our hosts, the succulent breakfasts, the very comfortable and clean room, and bathroom with plushed towels and robes. It was nice to relax by the river, on the balcony watching the birds or in the living room. Discussing with Conrad and Brian is the most interesting part due to their knowledge of the area, places to visit and their general culture. Altough the purpose of our trip was to visit the PEC vineyards, the B&B was the best part of our vacation escape.

- Claude and Richard, from Gatineau 11 August 2018

This B&B has beautiful, quiet surroundings - lovely to sit on the back porch and watch the birds at the feeders and the swans on the river. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Absolutely delicious and filling breakfasts - and very accommodating to a restricted diet. Conrad and Brian are amazing hosts - loved their stories about the decor in their home. We also appreciated their knowledge of the area and their recommendations for sight-seeing and shopping! Very highly recommend!

- Gaye, from Ontario 11 August 2018

We stay at upscale Bed and Breakfasts often and Brian and Conrad at their Black River Bed and Breakfast have set a new standard. The breakfasts were par excellence beautifully presented with everything made in their kitchen with carefully selected ingredients. The Riverview room was elegant with a large private enclosed balcony overlooking the river. Their home was filled with art treasures and they were happy to talk about them with their guests.

- Ron and Amanda Greenway, from Vancouver BC 10 August 2018

It was the second time for us in this amazing BB. The location is perfect for a weekend of relaxation and delicious gourmet breakfasts to be remembered. Conrad and Brian give professional and friendly service. There is a variety of birds that will greet you from the patio while you enjoy the wonderful breakfast in a very nicely table setting. We had a nice dinner at Jackson’s Fall county inn, one of the many good ones that Conrad recommended.

I have my yoga mat with me and enjoyed yoga and meditation by the river bank every morning before breakfast. I am already planning my third visit to BlackRiver BB

Thanks again for two amazing days.

- Merita & Ben, from Richmond Hill 9 August 2018

This was our first stay at the Black River B&B, but it won't be our last. Situated on the Black River and close to all the things that Prince Edward County has to offer, this B&B is a gem! The home is very well appointed and spotlessly clean. Not a single detail was overlooked and we felt welcomed the moment we entered the home. The hosts are well-versed on all things "county" and the breakfasts are without question the best we have EVER had at a B&B. Thank you both for a memorable stay. See you in the fall!

- Scott and Dwayne, from National Capital Region, Ontario, Canada 7 August 2018

This B&B gave us a delightful short break. The setting is superb, looking out on the Black River with a family of swans amid water lilies. Inside, our hosts Conrad and Brian have created a welcoming atmosphere amidst an exuberant display of (only some of) their collections – paintings, glass, tiles, porcelain, rugs, furniture, even the cutlery and dishes we ate off – and are superbly knowledgeable about the items. After a comfortable sleep and a scrumptious, wholesome and locally sourced breakfast, we would have loved simply to sit on the porch, reading and watching the various birds attracted to a line of feeders. However, there was too much to do in the County. There too, Conrad and Brian can give directions to sources of produce and preserves and information about activities in the County.

- Paul and Brenda (July 2018), from Vancouver, Canada 4 August 2018

Highly recommended. This B&B experience has set a new benchmark for us. We experienced beautiful accommodations, wonderful food, and attentive and interesting hosts. Thank you Conrad and Brian for giving us a wonderful holiday and sharing your stories, being so accommodating to dietary needs and providing us with ideas for our visit in Prince Edward County.

- Barbara and Stephen, 20 July 2018

- Julie et Patrick, from Lévis, Québec, Canada 15 July 2018

Black River B&B is a wonderful, quiet and scenic oasis. Bedrooms are modern, comfortable, clean and very well appointed. Delicious breakfasts are equivalent to a 5* hotel, in quality and presentation. The hosts are attentive, gracious and most engaging in sharing their love and vast knowledge of art. Highly recommended.

- Terry & Linda, from Burlington, Ontario 13 July 2018

We spent two relaxing days following a hectic week in the City, and found at Black River B&B the perfect antidote for stress! From the peaceful location by the river to a very comfortable room and then a superb breakfast all blended ideally. The conversation with the two well- informed and interesting hosts was the proverbial icing on the cake. We look forward to a return visit, and recommend Black River in the highest terms.

- Anonymous, from toronto 4 July 2018

My Mom and I have just returned home from our stay at the unforgettable Black River Bed and Breakfast in beautiful Prince Edward County. Our most gracious and welcoming hosts, Conrad and Brian made our stay truly memorable. Every aspect of our vacation was remarkable. Our accommodations were impeccable and incredibly comfortable. The unique and well appointed rooms within their home were so pleasing to the eye, it was as though we had travelled to many far away lands. The views of unspoiled nature along with the myriad of wildlife that frolicked about, made sitting out on the balcony an experience that was never the same no matter how many times we went outside. Our meals in the morning were locally sourced, so thoughtfully prepared and a true delight to our pallets. Conversation was always interesting, easy and most enjoyable, Our stay here was peaceful and rejuvenating This B&B is a definite game changer for us as travel companions. The bar has been set higher than either of us could have imagined. Another time away together will undoubtedly have us returning to this very place.

- Jennifer Plante, from Ontario Canada 20 June 2018

Our large and comfortable room with a huge, well-appointed en suite also had a private balcony/deck where we watched a wide variety of birds flying at eye level. The view over the river was always changing; the property is a haven for numerous animal species. Breakfasts during out 2-day stay were multi-course, gourmet creations, prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Conrad & Brian's attention to detail and colour made these meals an occasion. We enjoyed excellent conversations, with them offering numerous suggestions on out of the way, interesting things to see & do and their background in art & history enhanced our stay. We hope to return to this wonderful B&B.

- Theresa Wilton, from Woodstock ON 20 June 2018

We recently returned to Black River B & B and had another wonderful stay. Everything about this B & B is first rate: the green location filled with birds, the beautiful home environment, the great breakfasts and the wonderful hosts, Brian and Conrad. The peaceful times at Black River stay with us.

- Lily and Michael, from Toronto, Canada 31 May 2018

Just returned from Black River Bed and Breakfast, where we had afternoon tea. Yes, we had tea, along with a most interesting instruction about the origins of tea, and the fabulous collections belonging to Brian and Conrad. Then the tea, which consisted of an assortment of cheeses, shortbreads, jellies, jams, honeys and sandwiches, and a host of other goodies topped off with a wonderful banana bread. The added bonus, a huge variety of birds feeding from the various feeders aligning the porch facing the water. All made for a most enjoyable afternoon . Brian and Conrad were gracious hosts, and their home is a delight. Hope to partake once again, after I have worked off the thousands of calories I consumed this afternoon.

- Sandra Norval, from Picton, ON 16 May 2018

You couldn't find a better B&B anywhere, especially for birders, spring or fall. Brian and Conrad got up early to give us the most delicious breakfast which lasted us most of the day.The most accommodating hosts ever. We couldn't recommend this place more, it has everything, view, food art objects, convenience to everything and every comfort you could wish.

- Gail Worth, from Collingwood 14 May 2018

This immaculately clean and exceptionally well-appointed B&B offers an idyllic setting for quiet relaxation, appreciation of Nature's changing seasons (in particular, the varied appearance of more than 60 types of birds), and opportunities to explore the County's rich historical record and agricultural life. Breakfasts are creatively varied and draw upon the finest local ingredients. A highlight on this our second visit was the special dinner which included artifacts and anecdotes regarding a dinner party hosted by Sir John A. Macdonald and his wife which influenced that future make-up of our nation. We will certainly return to continue the exploration and enjoyment.

- Ronald Allan McRae, from Brighton, Ontario 10 May 2018

A wonderful experience. Locally sourced and beautifully prepared breakfasts, elegant yet comfortable accommodations, meticulously spotless, and perfect B&B hosts - from the crisp newspaper waiting in the sitting room surrounded by art work to watching swans and otters off the balcony. Brian & Conrad have the most amazing collection of art I have ever seen, and their years at the Royal Ontario Museum mean they can tell you the story of each piece if you ask.

- Katherine & Mark Chislett, from Aurora Ontario 8 April 2018

I just had another wonderful experience at Black River Bed and Breakfast. Like its hospitality, Blackriver's accommodations are elegant, yet unpretentious. The food is locally sourced, thoughtfully prepared and delicious. Conrad and Brian know so much about the County and are always ready with suggestions to ensure you enjoy every minute of your stay in PEC. I can't recommend this B &B enough!

- Maria, from Vaughan 2 April 2018

Enjoyed a pleasant afternoon learning about tea, collectibles, and so much more. The view sublime, the home spotless, location great. The hand made and local food was delectible and choosing from a large selection of teas and homemade shortbreads were the icing on the cake! So much to see and learn. Highly recommend this friendly B&B!

- Donna, 19 March 2018

We had a lovely stay at Black River B&B a few weeks ago. Great breakfast and a large amount too,we had to take the 3rd coarse and ate the delicious blueberry tart at Sandbanks beach[ it was a glorious day. The rooms were very clean and the beds very comfortable. Being early risers,Conrad even made us early morning coffee before breakfast. We had a pleasant stay. Now our husbands want to join us next time we go to PEC. and stay at Black River B&B.

- Helen, from Toronto Canada 31 October 2017

Black River B&B is a pure delight in PEC. An oasis of calm in a beautiful setting on the river. For bird and nature lovers it’s a dream come true. Conrad and Brian are perfect hosts with a wealth of knowledge about the county and all it has to offer. Conrad’s breakfasts are a delicious feast made with local and organic ingredients that will get anyone ready for a full day of exploration!

- Donna Cheng, from Toronto, Ontario 26 October 2017

We have just returned from our second stay at Black River B&B. Once again we were taken by the amazing hospitality, room with a view, and the delicious breakfasts. One may think that Black River B&B is a bit off the beaten track....that is part of the charm. In the morning one can wander down the road filled with farms, great views and friendly walkers. As a reference the drive to Wellington for dinner on the Sunday evening was about 25 minutes....about half the time it takes me to get to work each morning.A truly great place to unwind.....

- Richard & Melinda, from Toronto 26 October 2017

We've been to Black River B & B several times now--the latest this past weekend. We had another wonderful stay. Very comfortable and quiet sleeps, outstanding breakfasts and great conversations with the welcoming and generous hosts, Brian and Conrad. We highly recommend this wonderful B & B.

- Lily and Michael, from Toronto, Canada 18 October 2017

Black River B&B set in an ancient oak and butternut shaded glen beside the river is an unique experience. Our room had a sheltered balcony overlooking the river where we could sit and watch waterfowl besport themselves. Brian and Conrad are welcoming, engaging and informative and obviously run the B&B for the pleasure of delighting their guests. Never have we enjoyed a B&B more.

- Jeanne and Ian, from Kingston, Ontario 14 October 2017

Highly recommended! An Excellent B&B:) Brian and Conrad added tremendously to our experience in Prince Edward County. Beginning with a warm welcome, excellent accommodations, incredible breakfasts, trivia and a wealth of knowledge on the area. Thank you Brian and Conrad at the Black River B&B in a part like setting, definitely will return.

- Anonymous, from Peterborough, Ontario 12 October 2017

What a wonderful place!!!! Our room made us feel like we were in a boutique hotel. Very clean and beautifully decorated. And the breakfasts, forget about your usual egg and bacon, the were fantastic!!! Right from the homemade yogurts to the third course desserts!!!! You will not believe it. The river outback only adds to the charm of this place. Brian and Conrad have made this a B and B that we will surely come back too.

- Nancy Froncioni, from Montreal 8 October 2017

Louise and I enjoyed the charming atmosphere thoughtfully created by Conrad and Brian at their Black River B and B. The breakfasts were outstanding. The large room overlooking the Black river was exceptionally well appointed, with comfortable bed and soft towels. We would recommend it to anyone seeking a quiet getaway.

- André and Louise, from Pointe Claire, Quebec 1 October 2017

Distinctive. Astonishing. Unparalleled. Distinguished. Congenial. Hospitable. Friendly. Attention to every detail. Feeling well accommodated and secure. Just read all the previous reviews and you’ll see that I’m missing many other qualities for the Black River B&B and its hosts, Conrad and Brian. Thank you for making my stay so memorable.

- Françoise (Fan), from Thunder Bay, ON 30 September 2017

My husband and I had a delightful, restful stay at Black River Bed and Breakfast. Our accommodation was stylishly decorated and was huge with a large private balcony overlooking the river and the swans! The 3 course gourmet breakfasts were beautifully presented, a real visual delight and the coffee was the best I’ve tasted. We had an exceptional holiday. Conrad and Brian are wonderful hosts. We hope to return.

- Linda & George, from Markham, Ontario 27 September 2017

This peaceful B & B is right on the river. Conrad and Brian are helpful and accommodating hosts. Breakfasts are always a clever surprise; Conrad is a gastronomical genius. While respecting our privacy they were a wealth of information about agriculture, wineries, and attractions in the area whenever asked. Brian's knowledge of the region's birds is extensive. We would highly recommend it to our friends.

- Margot and Mike, from Montreal, QC. 20 September 2017

This was our second stay at Black River B&B - Conrad and Brian are such wonderful hosts that we had to return! The location of the B&B is great - it is easy to travel to all parts of the county from their place. The Grimmon room is bright and clean, and the bathroom is modern and newly renovated. They put on a delicious 3-course breakfast using local produce. They have a wealth of knowledge about the area and offer many great recommendations for places to visit/eat. We highly recommend this bed and breakfast - they will make you feel right at home :) Thank you both!

- Daniela and Ken, from Toronto 19 September 2017

We were a party of six - staying in Beautiful Prince Edward County - at the Black River Bed and Breakfast. Our hosts, Conrad and Brian were very friendly, courteous and welcoming. Our individual bedrooms and bathrooms were clean, beautiful and modern. When we looked at the view over the river, we felt like we were looking at a Monet Painting. It was lovely. Breakfasts were an event. The food was delicious and spectacular in presentation. Fun shopping was only 10 minutes away in Picton. Thank you for a wonderful time.

- Royden, Mary, Ron, Ginny, Chris and Stewart., from Markham, Ontario 13 September 2017

My husband and I stayed at Black River B&B along with friends for three nights in August. Conrad and Brian have a beautiful B&B with views of the Black River. The rooms were very comfortable with lovely ensuite baths which have all been recently renovated. Each morning started with a wonderful 3-course breakfast and interesting conversations. The emphasis was always on locally produced and sourced organic foods. Conrad and Brian were also very helpful in suggesting things to see and do in PEC.

- Donna and Frank, from Queenston, Ontario 5 September 2017

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Black River B&B. Conrad and Brian are phenomenal hosts: welcoming, friendly, accommodating and fun. Everywhere in the house was a delight to the mind and eye- collections of books, paintings, ceramics, glass, you name it, it was there. The view of the river and the facing bluff was lovely to look at from our balcony as we enjoyed a pot of tea or a glass of wine. Our room and bathroom were very comfortable and had every amenity you could ask for. Breakfasts were delicious, creative and beautifully presented. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, from the cut flowers to the place settings to the background music. Conrad went out of his way to accommodate my wife's dietary requirements. Brian and Conrad made us feel like we were staying with friends. We look forward to returning.

- Pierre and Cathy, from London, Ontario 3 September 2017

I stayed at Black River B&B with 3 friends at the end of August for 2 nights. What an experience!! Conrad and Brian are very inviting hosts. Conrad's breakfasts were superb, he is a wonderful chef (eggs in a cloud, delicious!) The quizzes were a lot of fun and very educational. It was one of the best B&B experiences I have had. Thank you both!!

- Denise, from Ottawa, Canada 3 September 2017

Amazing! That's the only word to describe ultra-inviting accomodations, comfort, hospitality of Conrad and Brian and surroundings right on the Black River. Amazing does not describe the best, most creative, delicious breakfasts we've ever had in a B&B, hotel, inn or cruise ship. The BEST!!!!! We did not want to leave this lovely place. Conrad had to usher us out the door and lock it. The Best of the county!!! Hope to return soon.

- merilyn read, from Aylmer, Quebec 2 September 2017

Wow! This is not your standard B&B. It is an experience to enjoy and remember! The house is amazing: the rooms are modern, full of books and art. Conrad and Brian make every effort to make your stay comfortable. Breakfast is prepared by Conrad and each day brings new surprises. We stayed for four days and we enjoyed an imaginative, delicious gourmet breakfast each day! My wife was awed by the flair with which her dietary restrictions were accommodated. Our hosts made us feel right at home and shared their knowledge of the County with humour. We had been coming to the County for over 20 years and thought we knew it well. In four days we found out how much we did not know. A truly enjoyable experience!

- George, from Toronto 29 August 2017

My husband and I recently stayed at the Black River B & B and had a wonderful experience with amazing food, comfortable accommodation and incredible hosts, Conrad and Brian. We found the breakfasts were incredibly tasty and creative, and at the same time very carefully accommodated the food sensitivities of the couple that we were traveling with. We were in the county to do some relaxed cycling and the breakfasts that we enjoyed definitely set us up for the day. We have rarely encountered 3 course breakfasts before, but it was certainly a wonderful experience, especially with Conrad's attention to detail and his use of local ingredients. We thoroughly enjoyed the morning trivia challenges, as we learned more about the COUNTY on this particular visit, than we have on many previous adventures. The Black River B & B is truly a treasure to be enjoyed and we would certainly recommend it to others as a wonderful location to enjoy the many experiences that the COUNTY has to offer!

- Diane and Larry, from Toronto 28 August 2017

It was a delight to stay at Black River Bed and Breakfast: from the artistic breakfasts, with the fun quizzes on local history and mini-quests that challenged us to explore Prince Edward County with a little more thought - to the beautiful quiet setting on the river and the wondrous bird feeders on the deck - to the house chock-a-block with archival material and art. Thank you, Brian and Conrad!

- Phyllis, from Toronto, Canada 28 August 2017

My husband and I spent two nights recently at the Black River Bed and Breakfast. Our first time in the PEC area. We were very pleased with our choice. Beautiful, calm and serene. They are situated on the Black River. We sat by the river at dusk and witnessed a loon and a kingfisher in the water in front of us. Brian and Conrad are two genuinely gracious hosts. They are full of knowledge regarding the area and its history (do your homework, there is a test)and have many suggestions as to site seeing in the PEC. There home is a treasure trove of art, books and busts. Beautifully appointed rooms, comfy beds and luxurious sheets. Conrad and Brian spoiled us each morning with a 3 course gourmet breakfast and french pressed coffee! We were entertained each morning looking out at the bird feeders and witnessing feeding bluejays, woodpeckers and hummingbirds, to name a few. We enjoyed picking blueberries at Little's Farm and attending the Waupoos Winery's Elvis Festival. We would definetly like to return. I can only imagine the colours in the fall!

- Brenda and Peter, from Markham, Ontario 27 August 2017

My wife and I spent four days as guests of Black River B&B and the stay was nothing short of exceptional. Conrad and Brian are excellent hosts....knowledgeable and entertaining. Their home is a museum of history and art and that alone is enough to make the visit worthwhile.

Breakfast is an excursion into gastronmic delight as Conrad prepares food usually found only in high end restaurants. We recommend Black River B&B as your place to stay in Prince Edward County.

- Laurence & Carla, from Ottawa, ON 23 August 2017

The Black River B&B was a fabulous find: a tranquil setting on the river, great for birdwatching. A lovely home filled with art and books. Spotless rooms with a view of the river and luxurious linens and towels. Conrad and Brian are gracious, knowledgeable hosts. Conrad's three-course gourmet breakfasts -- as beautifully presented as they were delicious -- topped off our stay. We would go back in an instant!

- Monique and Jacques, from Ottawa 23 August 2017

A beautiful setting for this B & B on the Black River. Very quiet and peaceful. Conrad and Brian are excellent hosts with vast knowledge of the area and history. The breakfasts are exceptional. We have never had anything better. Highly recommended and we hope to return.

- Jayne & Reinhold, from St. Catharines, Ontario 22 August 2017

My husband and I had a wonderful four night stay at this delightful B&B. Our hosts, Conrad and Brian were kind, gracious and very knowledgable about the area. Spacious, luxuriously appointed room, easily accommodated my walker. Beautiful setting on the river and many bird feeders provided a fascinating view. The morning started with a delicious three course organic breakfast presented with fresh herbs and artistic flair! One of the best B&B's we have ever stayed in, highly recommended.

- Alison and Roy, from Ottawa 20 August 2017

Very elegant, beautifully decorated and tranquil house. Comfortable and spotless rooms. Breakfasts are feast for the eyes and taste buds. Conrad and Brian are very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful hosts.

- Mila and Vitaly, from Toronto 9 August 2017

The location is great, the food is amazing, and the guys are top notch hosts and tour guides. The next time we visit Prince Edward County we're definitely staying there again.

- Christina, 9 August 2017

Holy amazing B&B! Black River is by far the nicest B&B we've ever stayed in. The setting is absolutely magical, with balconies overlooking the river and birds gathering in the garden. The house is gorgeous and fun and packed with personality, chocked full of paintings, busts, figurines, knick-nacks and fascinating art history books. Our room was incredibly comfortable and beautiful. Each 3-course breakfast (!!) was delicious and beautiful, and never the same twice. Brian and Conrad are wonderfully welcoming hosts, full of knowledge and warmth. We would recommend Black River B&B to anyone!

- Neta and Trevor, from Toronto, ON 8 August 2017

My husband and I spent 3 nights recently with Brian and Conrad at their lovely B and B as a quiet get-away to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We chose a quieter location as we wanted to cycle. This was a winner!!! I am a bit of a "foodie" so was amazed at the 3 course breakfasts they served us. Beautiful presentation ( I took pictures) and attention to detail and service. Our room was equivalent to the best 5 star accommodation ever! I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Prince Edward County. Close enough to Picton, etc for lots of shopping and great dinners! We did not need lunch!!

- Anne and Clarence, from Grimsby, ON 3 August 2017

Stayed at Conrad and Brian's B&B for the second time, in early July this year. Loved it again--- the magic of the fireflies and singing frogs that greeted us as we arrived late one evening never left us for the four nights we were there. Great breakfasts, great birds, and of course, great bicycling in the wine region!

- Jeannette & Martin, from Toronto, Canada 30 July 2017

My husband and I spent 2 nights at Black River Bed & Breakfast. Brian and Conrad are truly amazing hosts. Both Brian & Conrad have a wealth of knowledge about the local area plus Conrad is truly a spectacular cook. Not only does he serve 3 course breakfasts but he also made accommodations for my food sensitivities. I was not expecting this level of service. One day he made a yummy teff porridge and the other day he made a tasty amaranth porridge. The breakfast he served my husband and the other guests far exceeded our expectations. They also have their own chickens so the eggs are as fresh as you can get them. The bed & breakfast is just a short 15 minute drive to downtown Picton plus a quick drive or longer bike ride to local wineries. You can also purchase some fresh organic veggies across the street from Miss Vicki's Veggies. The rooms are also very clean & private and the grounds are very picturesque. I highly recommend Black River Bed & Breakfast for your next stay in the Picton area.

- Annette Fenton, from Burlington, Ontario 30 July 2017

This was my first stay at a B&B! Conrad and Brian were very welcoming and provided us our own space and privacy. We spent our first night sitting out back by the river, enjoying local wine. Both mornings we were served a delicious breakfast and had a wonderful time learning more about the area! We even took away some recipe ideas! Our accommodations were wonderful and we would recommend this to anyone in the future!

- Lesley, from Niagara 26 July 2017

This is a fascinating B&B. Conrad and Brian are avid collectors of historical artifacts, so there are many interesting items to peruse. The bedrooms and bathrooms are fitted out with high quality materials and the beds are very comfortable. Breakfast is amazing! Three beautifully prepared and presented courses in perfect quantities, served at a lovely table, overlooking the garden and river. A row of different types of bird feeders attracts a wonderful variety of birds that provide great entertainment during the meal. Conrad and Brian are great hosts and are very knowledgeable about the area, sharing many fascinating bits of information. I would highly recommend staying here.

- Tina, from Durham UK 20 July 2017

We stayed here for two nights. This is a beautiful and immaculate house. We stayed in the Grimmon Room. It was beautiful, immaculate, and very nicely decorated. The house is on the river and the owners, Conrad & Brian, have bird feeders so lots of birds. The house inside is full of paintings, antiques and books. They also have wi-fi! The breakfast is unbelievable. The first morning, we had fruit, yogurt with mint, crepes with cheese sauce, mushrooms and leeks and a pear tart with avocado ice cream. The second morning at my husband's request we had waffles and bacon. We also have fruit and yogurt but this time with ginger in it. Conrad did a very nice job with breakfast. Also Conrad and Brian gave us suggestions on what to see during the day. Conrad told us about some bi planes that were going to be in the area only on Monday between 11-2 pm. We went and had an awesome time. They also gave us ideas on where to eat and other places to go besides the wineries as there are numerous ones. We were also provided maps of the area. What a great place to stay and as it was our first time on the island a great introduction to a great place. Our stay was truly enjoyable. Thank you guys!

- Theresa & John, from Utica, NY 5 July 2017

Great B&B, Conrad and Brian are very good hosts, breakfast is delicious, very clean and what a great start of your day when you wake up looking at the river! We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommand Black River B&B !

- Laurence and Yanik, from Montreal, Canada 1 July 2017

Wow! I feel so lucky to have been a guest of Brian and Conrad's. It would astral was over the moon. d be silly of me to try to accurately describe the delightful time I enjoyed. They are low-key, and let the magic of the room and the setting take over. The breakfast alone is a great reason to return. Thanks for the delightful stay. We'll be back.

- Matt and Theresa, from Tpronto 30 June 2017

Black River B&B was the perfect setting from which to explore Prince Edward County. Conrad and Brian provided invaluable tips for exploring. From the serene riverside property to the locally-sourced, gourmet breakfast, we were extremely impressed and would recommend this accommodation to anybody.

- Kjirsten and Sebastian, from Toronto 19 June 2017

My wife and I stay at many B&B and we have to say this was one of our best experiences ever. Great location, excellent bedroom and bathroom facilities not mention a beautiful home and charming hosts. The breakfast experience is second to none. This truly was a 5 star experience. Thank you Conrad and Brian for setting the bar so high. We shall return! Cheers!

- Jill and Blair, from Ottawa 18 June 2017

This was our first visit to the Black River B&B and we stayed in the River view room, large balcony overlooking the river. It was very peaceful and beautiful.Large room and large bathroom with heated floors and your very own bathrobe. Woke up to birds singing, amazing coffee and a 5 star amazing breakfast.Best breakfast we ever had in any place that we have stayed. There are plenty of bird visitors, (bluejays, orioles, woodpeckers to name a few)that you can enjoy while eating breakfast due to the bird feeders outside the kitchen window. Brian and Conrad are very nice hosts that can tell you everything you need to know about the area and special places you can visit like the vinegar barn in town. I would definitely recommend staying here and would like to go back again some day.

- Elaine and Jim, from Pickering Ontario 10 June 2017

If it is on your agenda to treat yourselves to the quaint, interesting, wine-loving Prince Edward County, then you must treat yourselves to Black River B%B. It is the most intriguing, comfortable B&B, with imaginative cuisine to die for, in a relaxing river-side location. The hosts are so knowledgeable about their collection of china and paintings with the books to back them up! Equally, their interest and participation in the history of PEC and local activities is enlightening. Well done! Just read the following raves.

- Lorne and Mimi, from Pakenham On. 9 June 2017

Brian and Conrad made our weekend stay in PEC very memorable. The accommodations are top notch. Beautiful clean spacious rooms, heated floors, white terry cloth robes, a spectacular tranquil view. Enjoyed, the best pressed coffee to kick start the day. Along with the morning brain twister full of interesting history and a few laughs for peanuts! Organic breakfasts were a culinary delight, artistic, delicious and made with the freshest ingredients possible including, herbs, farm fresh cloud eggs from their very own chickens which they board up the road. A lovely location, central for PEC touring and a wonderful place to come home to in the evening and bird watch before freshening up and heading out to enjoy the many local area restaurants and live music venues. Can hardly wait to book another stay.

- Susan and Patti, from Richmond, Ontario 7 June 2017

Our stay at the Black River was a very pleasant experience. The rooms were modern and high quality and provided a serene and quiet sleep. The spotless bathroom, fluffy towels and linens were luxurious!! Sitting on the private porch and watching the river and birds was relaxing and peaceful. Then in the morning you are treated to a farm fresh, organic breakfast garnished with fresh herbs and in some cases your host must make you guess what wonderful flavor he has used to prepare a dish. Brian and Conrad are kind and gracious and your stay will be truly enjoyable.

- Michael and Wanda, from Indian Lake, NH 7 June 2017

I'm so sorry!!! I just realized that I wrote Michael instead of Brian! Oops. Lily and Michael were the wonderful couple that we met while there. Please accept my apology, Brian. :)

- Patti, from Ottawa 6 June 2017

I've never been grateful for my cat allergy before.I am now.Because of it,my friend and I,had to cancel our reservation at another B&B.They recommended Black River and we were so fortunate that they had a vacancy with twin beds.Yay! Everything was perfect and inspiring.Just read all the other testimonials .All true. I hope to be able to return, someday. Thankyou Conrad and Michael ( you were a lot of fun )

- Patti and Susan, from Ottawa 6 June 2017

We've just returned from another lovely stay at Black River B & B. It was great to again see Brian and Conrad who are excellent hosts. We had comfortable, peaceful sleeps with birdsong in the mornings and fabulous breakfasts in this quiet setting by the Black River. We explored the county during the days amidst lilacs lilacs everywhere. We highly recommend Black River B & B.

- Lily & Michael, from Toronto, Canada 31 May 2017

This spring was our second visit and even better than the first. Food and care are outstanding, clean, modern, and in such a beautiful location. Bird feeders provide wonderful entertainment at breakfast! Highly recommended.

- Gail Worth and Don Kerr, from Collingwood, Ontario 17 May 2017

Having just returned from our third stay at the Black River BnB we want to stay what a wonderful time we had. Conrad and Brian are exceptional hosts. Fabulous breakfasts with amazing entertainment (very active bird feeders), beautiful rooms and a very enjoyable visit. Thank you, thank you, we'll be back.

- Bob Silk and Loretta Hopkins, 10 May 2017

Our stay at Black River B and B was delightful. Brian and Conrad are enjoyable hosts who have a wealth of knowledge about the County and its history. Our bedroom was comfortable and immaculately clean, and Conrad's breakfasts were divine. We highly recommend their hospitality!

- Christine and Will, from Toronto 10 May 2017

This has been our second stay at Black River BnB and it was nice to see Brian and Conrad continuing to maintain a high standard. For us, this stylishly decorated BnB is a serene quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of Toronto. Brian and Conrad's cooking and overall hospitality continue to be welcoming, friendly and informative. Although we didn’t do much sightseeing this time around, the location of Black River BnB is ideal for this cute corner of Prince Edward County where much of the local culture is within a walking or short driving distance. We’ll definitely be back.

- Geoffrey, from Toronto 1 May 2017

My girlfriend and I just spent a wonderful weekend at Black River Bed and Breakfast. BRB&B is located on a beautiful property. It is spacious, comfortable, beautifully decorated and immaculate. We were treated to absolutely delicious gourmet breakfasts made all the better by the great view of the river and its wildlife. Brian and Conrad were the most charming hosts and have an almost encyclopedic knowledge of Prince Edward County. I highly recommend Black River Bed and Breakfast and look forward to returning in spring when the county is in bloom!

- Maria Stea, from Toronto, Ontario 2 March 2017

Last weekend was our 2nd spent at the Black River Bed and Breakfast. As before, we enjoyed the place a lot. The house is newly renovated, rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The whole place is very clean and nice, including the surroundings. Conrad and Brian's hospitality was great as their interesting yet quiet company made our stay only more attractive. The breakfasts were, as before, delicious. This time we treated ourselves to a dinner which was Conrad's great creation out of mostly locally sourced ingredients. Too bad time flew so quickly in that 'gem' kind of a place. Highly recommended!

- Agnieszka & Jaques, from Toronto 30 November 2016

A great experience. Clean, comfortable, modern rooms. Friendly hosts. Memorable three-course breakfasts. Nice, quiet, beautiful location on the Black River. Wifi. Easy Parking. The best compliment I can give is that I plan to return!

- John, from Montreal 14 November 2016

My partner and I stayed this past weekend at Black River B&B and it was a memorable experience. Undoubtedly, the best B&B that we ever stayed.

The house is lovely, welcoming and full of interesting art. The bedroom is large, elegant, comfortable and recently renovated. The breakfast is a true culinary delight. Add to it enjoyable conversation with Conrad and Brian and you feel that you are being hosted by long-time friends. Highly recommend and we are sure to come back soon

- Jaques and Agnieszka, from Toronto 31 October 2016

We stayed with Brian and Conrad for our recent wedding anniversary and had a wonderful weekend. The breakfasts were a culinary delight. The food tasted as good as it looked with fresh, local and homemade ingredients. Added to that is the view overlooking the river and interesting conversation with the gracious hosts. The room was clean and well kept with a comfortable bed. We look forward to a return visit!

- Kevin and Lucy, 28 October 2016

We thoroughly enjoyed our third stay this season. Brian and Conrad are great hosts. As always Conrad's breakfasts were stupendous! The Gimmon room we stayed in is large; the bed very comfortable, the bathroom gleaming and well appointed. Late frost, so they still had flowers from the garden on the table. Out and about, the autumn foliage was at peak-perfect for a walk down Morrison Point Road or a drive over to Lake-on-the-Mountain to view the Glenora Ferry in the channel.

- Wayne & Keitha, from Pensacola, Florida 28 October 2016

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with our friends at Black River Bed and Breakfast. The accomodations and breakfast were excellent! Conrad and Brian were great hosts!

- Barbara and Enzo Cefaloni, from Ottawa, Ontario 18 October 2016

We stayed for the long weekend and absolutely enjoyed our stay. The hosts are very knowledgeable about the area and things to see and do. The room was perfectly clean and nothing was missing. Breakfast was a real delight with freshest products and great foods offered. Overall a great experience, we look forward to coming again.

- stephan and deborah, 17 October 2016

We went for a couples getaway for a weekend of wine tasting. We were 4 couples so had the full B&B to ourselves. Conrad and Brian were very hospitable. The rooms were all very nicely decorated and clean. The breakfasts were amazing! All were homemade with fresh ingredients. Someone in our party was celebrating a birthday and they went to the trouble to have a birthday cake with candles. Definitely would stay there again.

- Anonymous, from Ottawa, Canada 17 October 2016

Stayed for the weekend. 4 couples had a great time. Conrad and Brian are fantastic hosts. Food and hospitality were tip notch.

- Caroline Castrucci, from Ottawa Ontario 16 October 2016

My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary and were fortunate enough to select Brian and Conrad's B&B as our place to stay. Our gracious hosts provided a calm, welcoming and attractive spot from which to explore the county. Our room was modern, spotless and very comfortable and breakfasts were a feast for both the eye and the palate. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, and will definitely be back.

- Catherine and Jordan, from Toronto 11 October 2016

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed a two night stay with Conrad and Brian at their superb Black River B&B. We have used many B&Bs in North America and abroad but have never stayed at a finer facility than this lovely home-away-from-home. Their recently renovated home is modern in every way (eg a heated marble floor in our en-suite) but it also houses a fascinating collection of objets d'art that stimulates conversation that reaches back into the history of the region. And, what a treat to watch the finches, hummingbirds, blue jays and other beautifully plumed birds enjoy their breakfast on the other side of the dining room window as we feasted on a wonderful multi-course breakfast so graciously prepared and served by our hosts. Without doubt Black River B&B deserves six stars out of five!

- Ruth and George, from Mississauga, ON 27 September 2016

After our last stay at Black River B & B we had to return because we had such a great time. Brian and Conrad are gracious hosts and their B & B is in a quiet, beautiful location that's near many lovely places in the county. This past weekend, for example, we visited many artists' studios on the autumn tour. Coming from the city, it was great to have very peaceful, comfortable rests, to see sunsets on the river and birds at the feeders in the mornings. The breakfasts were again delicious and we loved being surrounded by our hosts' collections of art work and books. A terrific place to stay!

- Lily and Michael, from Toronto, Canada 21 September 2016

We spent two nights at the Black River B&B with Conrad and Brian in a tranquil setting. We were served a delightful breakfast in their beautiful home. Our bedroom, bathroom and ensuite were exceptionally appointed. We highly recommend that you visit them!

- Lesley & Brenda, from Stoney Creek, Ontario 20 September 2016

Conrad and Brian – what wonderful hosts you are! Reading the comments from the various visitors at your B&B, it’s hard to come up with anything unique and original to add – of course we agree with everything previously stated. Yes, the breakfasts, the view, the swans, the river were clearly above average. But above all, our room and on suite bathroom, as well as the entire home, was pristine. I guess the best compliment you can give an establishment is a referral – which we do to everyone we speak with. We cannot wait to visit again.

- Denise and Glenn, from Moncton, New Brunswick 19 September 2016

Many thanks Conrad and Brian for the wonderful times we've spent at Black River B and B this year. Your location overlooking the lazy Black River is relaxing. Who knew the sunrise on the river was so addictive. Your breakfasts are superb (we miss them when we return home!). As you know, I enjoy the morning quiz which is very informative, as well. The addition of the field of wild flowers is a delight. Ernie and I can hardly wait to return soon.

- Mona and Ernie Shaw, from Toronto 14 September 2016

Thank you Brian and Conrad for making our stay an unforgettable experience. Your attention to detail is exceptional. This is our first B&B visit and I think anything else is going to dim in comparison.. The excellent breakfasts were a pleasant surprise and we felt truly pampered. The scenic Black River in the background, the sunflowers, the birds feeding at the sun deck, chipmunks and squirrels scampering around the grounds, the green foliage created the right atmosphere for a wonderful, restful weekend. We hope to return and enjoy your hospitality again!

- Sethu and Viju, from Ajax, Ontario 13 September 2016

Conrad & Brian made our stay at the Black River B&B a most enjoyable affair. From the beautiful room with a view, to the most excellent breakfasts with a local County quiz session each morning to test our County knowledge … lots of fun was had by all. Breakfast was presented with attention to detail and prepared with the same dedication, as a top chef would give. Brilliant!! The enchanting Morrison Point Road on one side and the tranquil Black River on the other side border the location. Migratory birds are attracted to the numerous bird feeders on the dining room deck of the house and entertained us during our stay. We have already booked next year!

- Clive and Katinka, from Toronto 12 September 2016

What can I say? Truly exceptional, and we have stayed at many B&B's here and overseas! The country setting, with swans picturesquely swimming on the adjacent river, the art-filled house, the lovely and well-equipped room, and the glorious breakfasts - what a find! Our hosts were most helpful in helping us locate the more obscure wineries not indicated on the map, and so we visited several we had not been to in earlier visits to the County! Highly recommended.

- Shelagh and David, from Ottawa, Ontario 11 September 2016

My partner and I stayed at the Black River B&B mid August of this year. We wanted to explore the Picton area and came across this B&B. Conrad and Brian, our hosts were very hospitable and Knowledgeable about the area. We were very pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. Very rustic setting on the river. The bedrooms have been completely renovated with great air conditioning (very much needed this summer), very spacious, very modern bathrooms, heated flooring etc(what you would find in a high end hotel). Our room had a large private deck with fantastic views overlooking the river, floating swans etc)The breakfasts were very hearty and we wish we could have stayed longer. Would definitely stay here again.

- Liz, from Toronto, Ontario 6 September 2016

This B&B is definitely one of the best B&B's out of the dozens in which we have stayed in several countries. The location on a river frequented by migratory birds enabled kayaking and bird watching. However, it was the delightful hosts & their exquisite breakfasts that earns this a 5 star rating. The room was quiet, comfortable, clean & well appointed with a private bath. Situated just a few kilometres from Picton, permits cycling or driving to numerous vineyards & fine restaurants.

- Rosie & Brian, 5 September 2016

My sister and I spent several nights at the Black River B & B. while visiting family on the east side of the County. Brian & Conrad were delightful, attentive hosts who take special care to ensure their guests' comfort and enjoyment. The rooms were spotless. Breakfast was delicious. The view overlooking the river was spectacular. This is a place I hope to return to. Thank you Conrad & Brian for your gracious hospitality.

- Cathy, from Burlington, Ontario 5 September 2016

Our second sojourn at Black River B&B for 6 nights was even more delightful than the first in late May. The breakfasts remain unsurpassed and each day was a new and different delight. It's always enjoyable to chat with and learn from our hosts, Brian and Conrad, as well as the other guests. Conrad and Brian maintain a lovely home, very comfortable beds and sparkling bathrooms. There are always a lot of activities to enjoy in the county; while we were there we did a wine tasting and tour, and visited an organic cheese producer. In the mornings and evenings we enjoyed the view of the river from our balcony, marking the progress of the swan family, since our last stay in late May. We will be back in the autumn.

- Wayne & Keitha, from Pensacola, Florida 5 September 2016

We stayed at the Black River Bed and Breakfast midweek during the month of August. We decided to come to PEC at the last minute and being high season we were not sure we would find any accommodation. Needless to say we were really pleased when we found the Black River B/B was available. To say it met our expectations is an understatement. We were warmly received by wonderful and knowledgeable hosts, had a great room with ensuite, the most beautifully prepared and presented breakfasts and enjoyable conversation with the hosts and other guests. Coffee on the balcony at 7am watching the sun rise, the swans swim into view and the birds come to the bird feeders was so wonderful and relaxing. Truly a gem! Thank you Conrad and Brian!

- Darcia And Gary, from Toronto,ON 5 September 2016

We stayed here Aug 12 and 13tth. It was the most amazing experience from the lovely rooms,to the most delious breakfasts we have ever had. The fruit cups , the egg filled crepes were to die for especially with the maple syrup served with it on the side. I loved the attention to every detail from the flowers on the table to the fresh pressed linens. Also there are so many artifacts, books and antiques every where and just ask if you want the history behind all of it, they willing give knowledgeable information....so interesting. The grounds are beautiful, right on the river. Well I could go on and on but just want to highly recommend this B &B. So glad we got to experience it.

- Sharon and Barry Newman, from Ontario 1 September 2016

Me and my girlfriend were looking to get out of the city for some peace, tranquility, a view of water, the sound of birds and a clean room. This BnB was all of the above; plus some.

The room was spotless, well manicured, cozy and comfortable.

There were plenty of exotic birds that frequented the patio. In edition a family of swans made a home on the river just in front of the property.

Our hosts are beautiful people who pay attention to detail and take a lot of pride in what they do. They are very attentive and personable to our needs but also know when to give space.

Breakfast was amazing!

If a quiet, romantic getaway from the hustle and bustle of a big city is what you're looking for, this is more than worth the money.

- Anonymous, from Toronto 19 August 2016

We returned to Black River Bed and Breakfast for two nights in early July after a very enjoyable stay last year. The setting on the shore of the Black River is lovely with a variety of birds and a family of swans providing extra interest. Conrad and Brian are excellent hosts who provide good insights into Prince Edward County and the surrounding area. Their home has many interesting books, paintings and decorative arts and we have had many engaging conversations about their collection. The Riverside Room is very comfortable and the breakfasts are delicious, particularly the coffee. We recommend Black River B&B and look forward to returning again in the future.

- Dave and Judy, from Richmond Hill, Ontario 17 August 2016

We spent two delightful nights at the Black River Bed and Breakfast. Conrad and Brian are amazing hosts. Conrad's three-course breakfasts are extraordinary -- the best we've ever had at a B&B anywhere! The house is filled with interesting artwork and reading material. Next time, we want to spend a day just investigating all they have on display. The house is located on the beautiful Black River. You can gaze on it from the main level of the house or from water-level. Just sitting watching all the bird-life is a wonderful way to unwind. We heartily recommend the Black River Bed and Breakfast and hope to return ourselves.

- Greg & Michael, from Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA 16 August 2016

What a fabulous stay! Our room was lovely - bed was incredibly comfortable, sheets were luxurious and we enjoyed our private deck area so much. We felt at home from the second we walked in the door. Our breakfasts were extravagant and delicious with so much attention paid to every detail. Brian and Conrad were wonderful hosts; helpful, friendly and just a pleasure to get to know! They even went above and beyond to recognize our special celebration while we were staying with them. Overall an absolutely wonderful stay, we'd return in a heartbeat.

- Mary & Gary, from Hamilton, ON 14 August 2016

We took our daughter to Prince Edward County for her 20th Birthday. We decided to stay at Black River Bed and Breakfast because of the beautiful river view shown on the website. It was everything and more than we could have hoped for. The rooms were beautifully attired and the hospitality so warm and friendly. The owners Conrad and Brian were so thoughtful in acknowledging all of the guests special occasions with balloons and cake! I definitely recommend this as a wonderful place to stay.

- Pamela Corrigan, from Whitby, Ontario 14 August 2016

We had a wonderful stay here in Aug 2016. Brian and Conrad were fantastic hosts, the location was very central to everything, the setting was peaceful, the home was very clean and the breakfasts were out of this world!! Thank-you for your hospitality, I would recommend this B&B in a heartbeat!

- Heidi & Gene, from Nova Scotia 13 August 2016

We loved our stay at the Black River Bed and Breakfast. Located in beautiful Prince Edward County, the B&B is situated very close to Sandbanks, wine tasting trails, and the lovely towns of Picton and Wellington. So much to explore! We stayed in the room with a King bed. It was very comfortable with fresh, crisp linens. The bathroom was clean and bright, with a roomy shower. Bottled water and bath robes are provided. Conrad and Brian are great hosts; friendly and very knowledgeable about the area, AND great cooks! The breakfast was not only delicious with fresh local ingredients, but also beautifully presented. We will definitely be back!

- Meagan and Jordan, from Montreal 13 August 2016

What a great stay at Brian and Conrad's lovely B&B! The house is impeccably clean and beautifully decorated with antiques, paintings, sculptures, etc. Conrad's breakfast is exceptional to say the least and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the table setting every morning. Brian and Conrad were very hospitable and have great stories about their years at the ROM and their collections. After a busy day of wine tasting and touring around we looked forward to a relaxing evening on the porch. We will be back, thank you again for a great stay.

- Kate and Dustin, from Dundas, ON 12 August 2016

Absolutely lovely B&B! Tranquil location on the river, gracious hosts, a delicious breakfast, and spotless, very comfortable rooms. Pride of ownership and care is evident in all aspects of this wonderful B&B. We couldn’t ask for more. Looking forward to our next visit!

- Greg & Sharon, from Ottawa, Canada 11 August 2016

We stayed for 6 nights over the August long weekend, and we had a wonderful time. Conrad and Brian are thoughtful hosts and their home is remarkable. Conrad delighted us with extraordinary breakfasts (3 courses!!) and Brian entertained with lectures on art. They are happy to suggest things to do, wineyards to visit and restaurants at which to dine.

- Anonymous, 11 August 2016

We had a wonderful time at Black River Bed and Breakfast over this past holiday weekend. Brian and Conrad are very welcoming hosts. Their house is lovely, full of art work and books and in a beautiful location by a river. We had great sleeps and delicious breakfasts that were also works of art. We saw many birds at the feeders and on the river in this peaceful setting. We highly recommend Black River B & B as a great place to stay while exploring Prince Edward County.

- Lily & Michael, from Toronto, Canada 2 August 2016

Spent two fabulous nights at the Black River B&B in late July in the Grimmon Room - lovely room with a great ensuite. The location on the river is beautiful and very peaceful - we even had the opportunity to watch a family of white swans spend time on the river. Brian and Conrad were great hosts and provided a clean, comfortable and interesting home setting. Breakfast each morning was a wonderful three course affair and we would certainly go back again.

- Helen & Alan, from Kingston, Ontario 1 August 2016

We stayed at this lovely B&B for five nights for our July holiday, and could not have found a better place. Breakfasts were little miracle- creations on a beautifully set table, and relaxed conversations flowed amongst the guests...The location felt like it was in the English countryside. We went on three bicycle trips (2 right from the site), a couple of days at the beach, lots of great local dinners and 2 nights of theatre, what could be better?

- Jeannette and Martin, from Toronto 1 August 2016

- Octavio et Irma, from Gatineau, Qc 31 July 2016

Thanks to our welcoming hosts Conrad and Brian, our weekend in Prince Edward County was one of our most memorable and we hope to return again in the fall. The river setting is beautiful, the grounds well maintained and the newly renovated rooms clean, spacious and inviting. A wonderful spot to relax and observing the wildlife or for activities such as cycling and running on the quiet country roads or kayaking in the river. The three course gourmet breakfasts were amazing!!

- Lydia and Don, from Ottawa ,Ontario 28 July 2016

Our visit was a “girls get-away” for a few days and I can’t begin to describe how wonderful it was. Conrad and Brian welcomed us warmly into their home with an instant feeling of comfort. We were surrounded by beautiful pieces of art and artifacts that brought immediate interesting conversation and every piece truly did tell a story. The linens and beds were heavenly and immaculate, the bathrooms spotless. They were a wealth of knowledge from historical details of the surrounding areas, to dining out recommendations and unique shops to visit, providing us with maps and personal notes. The breakfasts were culinary works of art to say the least; being a foodie I have to say I’ve not experienced anything like it at a B&B – a three course gourmet delight and homemade avocado ice cream oh my! The grounds are magnificent! A perfect setting for relaxation where we ended our evenings in Adirondack chairs watching the wildlife on the river. And we were fortunate to have had the experience of listening to a lovely Harpist who was also a guest. We enjoyed every moment of our girls mini get-a-way, and especially meeting our charming hosts Conrad and Brian. Thank you so much for making our stay a perfect one! We are already planning a return visit and will recommend Black River B&B to others!

- Sue and Cathy, from Woodlawn, Ontario 22 July 2016

Beautiful place to stay, so relaxing, right on the river. Conrad and Brian are wonderfully hospitable and kind and the three course breakfasts are out of this world! The whole facility was immaculate and filled with very interesting pieces of art. We had such a good time we stayed an extra day!

- Merrilyn and Neil, 21 July 2016

We had a lovely stay at the Black River B&B. The location is beautiful and peaceful. We loved relaxing by the river. The breakfasts were outstanding, every morning a three course gourmet affair with lots of attention to detail. Best B&B breakfast we ever had. Would stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

- Sandi, from Toronto 21 July 2016

Brian and Conrad are warm and caring hosts. The breakfast, delicious and a taste treat, is served with a different setting and fresh flowers every day. Their grounds by the river are tranquil and beautiful. The whole weekend was outstanding!

- Christine Sadler, from Welland, Ontario 17 July 2016

Our stay at Black River B&B was the jewel in the crown of Prince Edward County. Our hosts Conrad and Brian were very knowledgeable and helpful on the many things to do in the area. There accommodations were one of the best we have ever stayed at. Their attention to detail regarding breakfasts was a labour of love (and oh so Yummy !)The rooms were excellent and the view of the river and wildlife were a perfect way to start and end the day. We definitely will be back.

- Ted and Diane, from Erin, Ontario 16 July 2016

Conrad and Brian offer a rarity to guests; breakfasts prepared with such an exquisite touch and culinary skill that they leave guests astounded by the care and attention to detail that they, with grace deliver. The linens are akin to sleeping on a cloud, the linens truly an impressive quality. A bathroom skylight and heated floor make the accommodation luxurious. The landscape, swans and bird-watching at the water's edge are serene and pastoral. The warmth and consideration we experienced on our visit continues to resound!

- Trina, from Ottawa 15 July 2016

Our family of four enjoyed a delightful, halcyon stay at Black River Bed and Breakfast in early July. The house is comfortable and immaculate, not to mention filled with an extraordinary collection of art and artefacts. The outdoor setting is even more remarkable, with an organic farm across the road (Vicki’s Veggies) and a sloping lawn down to the Black River in back. We sat out on the deck, which opens from the rear bedroom and watched the amazingly diverse bird-life: orioles, red-winged blackbirds, swans, robins, red-breasted grosbeaks, bluebirds, hummingbirds, etc. Conrad and Brian are charming hosts, knowledgeable about the area and many other subjects, and the complex three-course breakfasts they provided were breathtaking and delicious. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful and peaceful location. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the swan family by day and the fireflies at night. Rooms all comfortable and spotlessly clean. It was easy for my Dad (85) to get around with his room on one level. Conrad and Brian were knowledgeable and welcoming hosts and the breakfasts were delicious! Definitely recommend this B&B and for sure we'll be back!

what a fabulous setting on the river...I only wish that we hadn't planned such a busy weekend schedule touring that we didn't have more time to spend on the property by the riverside or on the water in a canoe or rowboat...we sat one evening on our balcony watching the birdlife...The rooms are lovely, bright, spacious, spotless, and comfortable...we had the upstairs room with the balcony and a huge bathroom, it was perfect...Conrad and Brian are wonderful hosts, providing us with fabulous breakfasts, and information about the area...we went for a couple of walks along the road and enjoyed the beautiful scenery...we highly recommend staying here...we'd definitely go back and stay longer...

Conrad and Brian have a wonderful place that makes it so hard to leave. The setting by the river is spectacular with a wonderful scenery and bird feeders which attract colorful birds that enjoy their treat. This place is outstanding, with comfortable and immaculate rooms. Our day started in with their fabulous breakfast. the table décor is very inspiring and adds to the enjoyment of a breakfast served in style. The attention to details is everywhere. We really enjoyed the artwork and Brian's explanations on some of the wonderful pieces they have collected. We will definitely return again.

Black River B&B is set amidst birds, water, quiet shady roads and organic farms. Surrounded by art of all types the hosts prepare a breakfast which is original, delicious and artistically presented. The accommodations are air conditioned, sparkling clean, crisp and comfortable. Conrad's and Brian's expertise on all things artistic and local make every conversation a learning experience.

- Judy and Terrence, from Ottawa 14 July 2016

Our recent stay at the Black River B&B was most enjoyable. Room and ensuite were immaculate and very spacious. Our private deck was enjoyed both early and late in the day. Birds and wildlife were interesting to watch. The breakfasts were incredible and were so filling that we didn't need to eat again until dinner. Our host were most knowledgeable about the area. We would love to return again.

- Ron and Margaret Fennell, from Brantford, ON. 13 July 2016

Situated right on the shore of the Black River, now under new ownership, the Black River B&B, (formerly Colleen Cottage) is a lovely setting. Rooms have been remodeled and upgraded, including bathrooms. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom sparkled. The highlight of our stay were the breakfasts, which were different every day, visually irresistible and just as delicious. We've booked again for August!

- Keitha Buckingham, from Pensacola, Florida 19 June 2016

We thoroughly enjoyed our Victoria Day weekend stay at the Black River B&B. From the friendly greeting on arrival, to the ‘thank yous’ and waves goodbye as we left, our genial hosts made us feel at home. The bedrooms were immaculate and very well appointed. The common area provided a very civilized spot for quiet relaxation and conversation. We were surrounded by beautiful objets d’art, paintings and a plethora of books and magazines. The peaceful setting beside a quiet river was a perfect backdrop for viewing the great variety of wild birds visiting their many feeders. The breakfasts were top rate gourmet. Chefs often say that first you eat with your eyes, and here the food was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. It was obvious that the first ingredient in each dish was love. We unanimously rate this establishment A1, 5 star and two thumbs up!

Brian and Conrad have created the most wonderful country retreat. They have succeeded making their bed and breakfast an outstanding place by providing comfortable accommodations in the way of cozy and comfortable sleeping rooms; creating delicious and memorable breakfasts - perfectly prepared and served on beautiful tableware; designing a popular "open" aviary for migrating birds on the porch mere feet from the breakfast table; fashioning a welcoming home with many wonderful objects that inspire, stimulate the eye and intrigue one's curiosity. However, and most importantly, Conrad and Brian's care and attention is such that one arrives and immediately begins to relax and appreciate their kind hospitality and their perfect B&B in its protected riverside site.

Prince Edward County remains, in many ways, an undiscovered treasure that is readily accessible from Toronto, Ottawa and New York State. A few minutes drive from Picton, the County's largest town, Black River B&B offers an idyllic setting with well-appointed rooms, exceptional and creative breakfasts, and host/owners who provide outstanding hospitality and valuable insights regarding local restaurants and food producers, wineries, local heritage, etc. The river room includes a large balcony with countless opportunities to observe bird life along the river. It's an exceptional B&B that we plan to visit again during the fall chamber music festival in Picton.

- Ron & Helen McRae, from Brighton, Ontario 17 May 2016

We just had the most wonderful week staying at The Black River B&B. Conrad and Brian got up extra early so we could get out to the point for our day birding, and this was after an excellent breakfast, even gluten-free! Great restaurants in the area which they kindly made reservations for us, and all kinds of works of art to stimulate your interest on every table, floor and wall. We would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

- Gail Worth and Don Kerr, from Collingwood, Ontario 14 May 2016

We enjoyed a "Girls' Weekend" om April 30-May 1. We could not have asked for a more peaceful setting than the Black River Bed and Breakfast! We were warmly welcomed by Brian and Conrad, whose beautiful home is a showcase for their magnificent art collection. Our newly renovated rooms were lovely. The exceptional breakfasts which Conrad prepared for us were the best we have ever been served in a B&B! If you are travelling to the Picton area, this is an excellent base from which to enjoy your time in the "County".

- Joanne, from Uxbridge 6 May 2016

We were there for a ceramics retreat weekend with study sessions that included touch and discussion and show and tell. The setting was idyllic , a luxurious friendly B and B with genial hosts and astounding collections of art, ceramics and glass, as well as bird feeders that attracted numerous species outside the dining window. We watched swans and geese on the river outside too. The food was delicious, creative and appealing to the eye and tastebuds. Breakfast was at nine so we had time to have a morning walk first along the rustic country road and also explore the river front. The whole weekend which also had outings to a winery, a coopersmith , a pottery and a private home for an multi-course Italian dinner was stupendous. Thank you Conrad and Brian!

- ellen and john, from Ottawa 22 April 2016

What a special weekend we had. Brian and Conrad put on a wonderful weekend package that included several lectures and events related to collecting ceramics. Their knowledge of this field is eclectic and they obviously love to share their knowledge with those interested. Then, the beautiful bedrooms, with heated bathroom floors, skylights and lovely bed linens, and the memorable meals made for a super weekend. I definitely plan on coming back.

- Nancy Conroy, from Ottawa 17 April 2016

I fully concur with the previous testimonials. Wonderful time spent at Brian and Conrad's B&B. We were 7 for a weekend of lectures in April, 2016. The setting overlooking Black River is indeed pastoral. It is quiet. Though out of town - reaching anywhere in the county is a 20 minute picturesque drive. 3 hours from Ottawa.. we returned via the Glenora Ferry. Breakfasts were perfect. Thank you

- Marnie, from Ottawa 12 April 2016

I was one of a group of 8 friends who took over the bed and breakfast from the evening of October 3rd to the late morning of October 5th. Conrad and Brian were warm and gracious hosts and the house is supremely comfortable. The breakfasts defy description except to say that there were appreciative noises made by everyone throughout each meal. There are beautiful objets d'arts wherever you look and our hosts furnished us with maps and advice as we planned our days - which included cycling, winery visits and a stop at Vicky's Veggies across the road. It was a perfect weekend. I wholeheartedly recommend this bed and breakfast.

- Laurie, from Ottawa, Canada 9 October 2015

Highly recommended, especially for those who enjoy meticulously prepared and presented breakfasts highlighting local produce.

I stayed at Black River B&B Oct 2&3, 2015. I was part of a group of 8, filling the establishment. Conrad and Brian were warm hosts and put on spectacular breakfasts serving everyone with wonderful dishes, while accommodating several allergies and sensitivities.

The Riverview Room was lovely, clean and well thought out including an ensuite bathroom (with tub), plenty of room for clothing storage, and lots of light options and electrical outlets for charging devices.

We were able to explore the county by bicycle to our hearts content and return to a very comfortable space to relax.

High praise & a hearty recommendation!

Conrad and Brian are wonderful welcoming hosts, exceedingly knowledgeable. From when you arrive you feel right at home. Their passion and love for what they are doing shines through. Smartly decorated rooms, immaculately clean and reading material makes you want to stay forever. Magical location. Love watching the vast variety of birds at the bird feeder. Sumptuous breakfast beautifully presented. Great place to relax and unwind.

Great breakfasts and a lovely location. Hard to beat!

We stayed with a group of friends at Conrad and Brian's B&B this August so that we could take in the wineries of PEC. Our rooms were beyond our expectations and our hosts were lovely. The breakfasts were absolutely incredible. What a great find!

- Lauren & Simon, 22 August 2015

We had a lovely stay at Black River B&B. The hosts Conrad and Brian were wonderful hosts and great chefs. Breakfasts were sumptuous. We will definitely miss the heated bathroom floor. We couldn't have had a nicer stay. Thank you both and we hope to visit you again.

- Jeanne and Anne, 13 August 2015

We enjoyed our two-night stay at the Black River Bed & Breakfast on July 28 & 29, 2015. Conrad and Brian are excellent hosts who are knowledgeable about the Prince Edward County attractions. They were very friendly and gave us great suggestions for places to visit during our stay. We felt welcomed to their B&B from the moment we arrived. The house was extremely clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious. We really enjoyed the location and privacy of the B&B and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family.

- John and Sue, from Ottawa 12 August 2015

Conrad and Brian are superb hosts at their very comfortable and unique B and B in a picturesque setting, handy to Vicki's Veggies and the Black River cheese company. The gourmet breakfast is outstanding!

- Jim Maclean, from Toronto 8 August 2015

We booked this B&B because everything was booked closer to the cluster of wineries. We also had not stayed at a B&B before and therefore did not know what to expect. The exterior is exactly as shown in the pics, high end late 70s, early 80s decor. Don't let this deter your decision because you quickly realize that this is part of the charm. Conrad opens the door as you approach with a warm inviting smile and Brian is puttering about inside. Their home is absolutely amazing, newly renovated with unique objects and books from their passions before taking over this home. The food, I will comment on at the end. We stayed in the room with the balcony which was very nice. The bed was very comfortable with very nice linens and an overall comfortable feel. The heated floor in the bathroom was an added bonus. So now, breakfast! Freshly squeezed OJ, bodum press coffee and Conrad's delights, he swears that he does not have formal training as a chef, but I am not convinced because the food was amazingly presented and tasted even better. You will not be disappointed and they have raised the bar of expectations for any other B&B experience. It is worth the extra few minutes to the main clusters of wineries. Will definately book again next year!!

- Sean and France, from Ottawa 3 August 2015

Thanks to Brian and Conrad for being great hosts and sharing their lovely home with us. The breakfasts were delicious; sitting down beside Black River was so relaxing; bedrooms were beautifully appointed with lovely linens and very comfortable mattresses. I look forward to returning and viewing some of their artwork once again.

- Linda Ploen, from Burlington 13 July 2015

Brian and Conrad have recently taken over this B&B and have done an amazing job - this was literally the best B&B I have ever stayed in! Recent renovations means the rooms are gorgeous and comfortable: plush carpet, fluffy towels, and crisp bed sheets. The entire house is extremely clean and attractive with many pieces of interesting and unique art throughout. We were served three course breakfasts that were (at the risk of repeating myself) the best I have ever had at a B&B. Brian and Conrad are great hosts who make you feel comfortable and relaxed. I highly recommend this B&B and I cannot wait to return!

- Tanya, from Toronto 8 July 2015

Just got back from our best bed and breakfast stay—ever—over Canada Day; beautiful setting on the Black River, renovated rooms, outstanding breakfast, and superlative hosts. Brian and Conrad made thoughtful book recommendations, brilliant music selections, and fantastic dinner reservations. Their kindness and conversation made for a stellar experience in an exceptional setting. We cannot wait to return.

- Cara Armstrong, from Northfield, VT 7 July 2015

I have been to other B&Bs in Prince Edward County but none can ever surpassed Black River B&B. The beautiful house - HOME - is set in a magnificent location and if one is looking for the best sleep of a life time the beds here are the answer. Brian and Conrad are delightful hosts and made my family of five feel truly welcome. You immediately fall in love with them and the house the moment you walk in. Breakfasts were beautifully presented and were to die for. It truly was a hard place to leave. I highly recommend this B&B to seekers of first class accommodation.

- Laurie Buchanan Drewitt, from Niagara on the Lake, Ontario 24 June 2015

A tranquil riverside retreat with lovely lounging areas inside and out. If you want peace and solitude after a busy day out and about, this is definitely the place! The rooms were very comfy with plush linens and super thick towels. Our hosts Brian and Conrad were amazing! I've never been served like this in a B&B before. Sumptuous gourmet breakfasts, including juicy fruits, baked potato and egg dishes, crepes, and freshly baked tarts...and the presentation was to die for. I even took pictures!!! I will be back for more.

- Alina, from Carleton Place, ON 23 June 2015

If you're looking to feel right at home and get pampered...look no further. Conrad and Brian are the best B & B operators I've stayed with. Nothing was overlooked. Our hosts made us feel very comfortable during our stay. Our breakfasts were nothing short of AMAZING ! We were there for a family get together (girls only) but there were 5 of us and they accommodated our needs for single beds for all -not an easy task - but they did it for us and the beds were so comfortable ! I would highly recommend staying here. Two thumbs up and five stars !! I'll definitely be going there again.
