Conversation, Comfort and Cordialness Lodged Here” 5 of 5 starsReviewed 3 weeks ago On our trip around the Gaspe Peninsula, we spent 1 night at the Auberge du Saumonier Lodge. The house is just beautiful. It is 100 years old and filled with the talents of its owners, Lisa and Eli. Besides being excellent hosts, Lisa is an artist in jewelry, stained glass and painting. Eli makes furniture. They love to chat and relate experiences so much that you feel like family. The rooms and facilities are spotless and Lisa's breakfasts are hearty and delicious. I can't say enough about how warm and comfortable we were made to feel. We'd be sure to recommend this experience to others as one of the best times to be had.

Even better than I could have imagined!” 5 of 5 starsReviewed 3 weeks ago I was in Gaspe for work June 10 - 12, 2014, and all hotels were booked solid in the downtown, so after researching other accommodations, I came to find Auberge du Saumonier Lodge, and was lucky to book a room at this lovely B&B known primarily for fishermen/ outfitting and guide for , yes, salmon in the 3 different fresh water rivers. I contacted the owners a day ahead to alert them to my late arrival, and from the graciousness of Lisa by phone, and excellent communication by email (for special dinner requests, and directions), I was even more impressed once I arrived, and warmly greeted by Elie (master of the house, and expert fisherman/guide himself). The house was warm, and rooms extremely clean, warm, beautifully appointed with stained glass windows, artwork, gleaming hardwood floors, professionally upholstered furniture and walls in the bedrooms (great beds also very comfortable), and spotless bathrooms and thick soft linens ...great care put into all facets of accommodating guests. The delicious breakfasts, beautifully plated, and attentive welcoming hosts. I arrived as a guest and left "like a member of their family". All the other guests were perfectly gracious, and I enjoyed casual conversation with Brazilians, Japanese and other Canadians. Lisa is a great cook, and I delighted in a local seafood "degustation" for dinner one night (extra on my plan..but well worth it). The grounds are well tended, flowers, birds, and plenty of parking too. I will definitely be back, and even try my hand at the world renown fishing! Thanks again Lisa and Elie!

Room Tip: Every room is lovely. See more room tips

Dear Lisa and Elie, Thank you so much for the wonderful trip! The brakfasts were superb and the hikes were magnificent. It was a wonderful way to celebrate my birthday. Have an excellent season!. Alex P.S.: I saw two hummingbirds this morning before leaving:

- Alex, from Calgary 12 June 2014

What a wonderful place and what warm, accommodating people! Lisa went out of her way to make our stay one of the best vacation stops we've ever made.

Helpful Hint: If you want a wonderful seafood dinner, forego local lobster and ask Lisa if she would be kind enough to whip up a local-sourced crab dinner! This had to be one of the most amazing meals we had on our trip to Quebec!!

- Lorna Elliott-Egan, from Lansing, MI, USA 21 August 2013

A wise woman advised an innkeeper: "Please labor over my neighbor. Give them a slice of something nice" Elisa and Elie of Auberge du Saumonnier Lodge have given me a vision of heaven As a guest here, I have truly experienced divine mercy. Thank God!

- Shafaat.rabbani, from Montreal 15 July 2013

After so many years of hearing my friend Joe and tales of the Dartmouth river, we finally got to experience it. I relaly enjoyed 2 days of sharing the river with Elie my guide and benefiting from his lifetime of wisdom and experience. The river is a jewel, it is so beautiful. We even caught a salmon at the end of the second day. The meals and accommodations at lodge are 2nd to none. Brenda and I feel like we are at home. Thank you for making our visit so perfect!.

- Bruce and Brenda Sederberg, from Minnessota, USA 15 July 2013

A bientot, Amitiés

- Thomas et Miline, from Montreal 17 September 2012

Lisa, This has been so enjoyable especially your presence and conversation and food and sharing of your love of this special place on our wonderful earth. Please tell Elie we have appreciated all his work also. Next time we will stay several days to really appreciate the great environs.

- Lynn and Len, from Santa Rosa and Red Bluff, California 17 September 2012

Thank you for your great breakfasts and for your recommendations of where to go around here. You are an interesting lady and your stained glass is spectacular!!!!

- Margo and Jim, from Canada 17 September 2012

What a wonderful and welcoming place! Lisa and Elie are true hosts who are knowledgeable and friendly in every way. Lisa's cuisine is healthy and local and with a tableful of interesting guests, diner is an event. Yes, there are hummingbirds! Swarms of them greeted us as we arrived and entertained us in the morning and evening. Location is everything and Auberge du Saumonier has everything: proximity to the town, the Forillion park and Perce. A car is a must, or a sturdy bike, for those so inclined. We will be back.

- Kris Wilson-Yang, from Ottawa 25 August 2012

Auberge du Saumonier Lodge

It is rare to find the perfect blend of outstanding cuisine, fully tailored hospitality and world class Atlantic Salmon fishing all under one roof however that is exactly what you get at Auberge du Saumonier Lodge.

Having fished some of Canada's top salmon rivers I know the difficulty that an angler faces when approaching new water, owner and guide Elie Elmaleh with 25 years of local Gaspe Bay experience offers invaluable knowledge in the most humbling of ways.

Your day on the river is not simply casting lines and hoping for the best but rather a deep journey into the past, present and future offering the angler a full understand of where the salmon are regardless of the time of year or fishing conditions.

Having guided legendary anglers and first time hopefuls Elie offers the perfect blend of a life time of knowledge with laugh out loud humor making ones day fully complete!

For those who appreciate a home away from home, this is the perfect place to spend a few days while exploring Forillion Park and Gaspe. Lisa and Eli are both warm and down-to-earth hosts who share their knowledge about the area as well as their boundless enthusiasms about everything from salmon fishing to attracting hummingbirds. We celebrated our wedding anniversary while visiting, and Lisa prepared a delicious and memorable supper for the occasion - with loving attention to the smallest of details.

- Irene & Martin, from Pointe Claire, Quebec 20 July 2011

We stayed for three nights on first arriving in Eastern Canada in this interesting house managed both as a fishing lodge and a B and B by a most talented couple. Lisa's food is magnificent - try one of her optional dinners - but her stained glass lends character to every room in the house. Eli, warm and friendly, has worked wonders with upholstery as well as being an accomplished fishing guide. The Auberge made a great place for us to stay and explore Forillon Park.

My boyfriend and I visited Gaspe for our vacation and stayed here for four nights. Comfortable room in a quiet surroundings. The house itself was full of history and characters and less than 10 minutes away from the Gaspe downtown. Breakfast was just delightful and delicious. Lisa booked the whale watching in Forillon park and boat tour in Perce for us when we said we are planning to do those. We didn't expect it but worked out great for us. Exchanging our daily excursion stories with other guests in the evening was fun too. We had a very pleasant stay. We'd love to visit and have Lisa's breakfast at any time!

- Jan, from Ottawa, Ontario. 18 August 2010

Nice place to stay, nice people, good friendly family type service. Just ask! And you'll get soon what you want. Not being a confirmed fisherman I wasn't sure I would find something to do, but no worry there are many things of interest that'll nourish your intellect.

A very beautiful quiet rural setting within a few minutes drive to the city of Gaspe. The hosts, Elie and Lisa, are most hospitable and friendly. They offer excellent rooms that are nicely adorned with very comfortable beds. The breakfast is delicious and has variety along with the friendly conversation with the hostess. We would recommend Elie & Lisa's Lodge for any type of travelling couple.
