dot Blue Horizon Bed & Breakfast
We had the pleasure of staying at the Blue Horizon Bed & Breakfast this past August. Margaret and Grant were wonderful hosts providing great hospitality and a delicious breakfast. And their home is beautiful and spotless. It is located just beside the lake so you can hear the waves while you sleep. We would definitely stay with them again!

For those people wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and relax their weary bodies, Blue Horizon is the place to go. Margaret and Grant are wonderful, down to earth folk who enjoy visitors to their hideaway on Wolfe Island. With the waters of Lake Ontario gently lapping the shoreline just mere feet away from the rooms to the tranquility of the island, one can’t ask for anything better. Margaret and Grant are so full of information about the island and their past families history that it makes you appreciate the way in which past generations lived and worked. They can even tell you the length of the ocean freighters passing close by. Did I say we were blown away by the size of the barn, there I said it. Would definitely recommend this B n B to anyone and have already told many of our friends about it. Thank you Margaret and Grant.

For a couple who want to get away from it all, this is the place. Quiet, tranquil and oh so relaxing. Margaret and Grant are super people who delight in explaining about the history of their families and the history of Wolfe Island. The lake just feet from the house and being able to see the ships from around the world passing by is just wonderful. I think children would be bored as there is nothing for them to do other than enjoy the ferry ride. Highly recommend this B&B.

We simply can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our (albeit too brief) stay this summer. Margaret and Grant are the warmest, most hospitable hosts one could ask for. Whether it was the engaging evening chats with Grant, or merry conversations at the breakfast table, partaking of Margaret's delicious homemade meals, our visit to Blue Horizon left us feeling refreshed and invigorated. This century farmhouse - with a grand view of Lake Ontario - has a particular charm that compels the visitor to step back from the hustle and bustle of the rat race and into a simpler time. We certainly hope to stay again the next time we are in Kingston.

Blue Horizon is an exceptional BandB. Perfect location lakeside. Both Wolfe Island and the family farm are peaceful and bucolic. The perfect spot to relax with quiet and naturL beauty. Comfortable home. Comfortable beds. Clean. Excellent breakfast. The best is the hosts, Margaret and Grant who are pleasant, kind, and interesting people.

Very tranquil surroundings. Margaret and Grant Pyke are lovely people. They made us feel very comfortable. We had a pleasant stay and a really sumptuous breakfast. If you are looking for a quiet place to unwind while listening to the waves, this is the place to stay.

We spent two days on Wolfe Island and the accommodation was excellent. It is a very scenic and peaceful location overlooking the lake. Margaret and Grant were wonderful hosts. If you are thinking of riding your bike, we would suggest mountain bikes as there are lots of gravel roads. Thank you. Joe and Terry

We have just spent three days at the very aptly named Blue Horizon as we looked over the St Lawrence river. The country air, the surroundings all added to the delightful setting of the farm. Our hosts Margaret and Grant were delightful, genuine with a great sense of humour! And, what can We say about the breakfasts other than 'superb'

- Zita Davidson, from Ottawa 5 June 2016

My wife and I had a great, two-day stay with Margaret and Grant. The room was clean and private, the hosts knowledgeable and warm, and (perhaps most importantly) the food and the view were both excellent! Highly recommend you stop in!

- Phil and Catherine, from Ottawa, Canada 29 July 2015

My wife and I stayed at the Blue Horizon B&B for our 17th anniversary and we both LOVED it! The sound of the waves coming upon the shore at night was hypnotic - we haven't slept better in a long time. The hosts (Margaret and Grant) were both very nice and provided a wealth of information and local history of the island. The provided breakfast was also delicious. If you're looking for a peaceful, cozy and friendly place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life for a bit - look no further!

From the first picture I saw of the water crashing against the shore on a sunny day I was again captured by the sheer magic of Wolfe island. I had stayed on the Island before but not here. This was by far the best. The house truly paints the picture of a place from a movie or book. The cool rooms and wrap around porch. The roads, the farm attached to it and the Pyke's charming personality and good food. It truly compliments and adds to the Wolfe Island experince! My girlfriend & I had a smashing time there.

We stayed at the Blue Horizon in July and we loved it there! Fantastic place and wonderful hosts! It’s an oasis of peace and hospitality, and so beautiful, right on the shore of Lake Ontario, surrounded by green and golden fields of corn, soy and wheat. The hosts, Margaret and Grant, were very attentive to our needs and very accommodating. We enjoyed our Honey Locust room with a private entrance and a huge wooden terrace. Every breakfast was a feast, not just for the palate, but also for the eyes (the lake just in front of us), and the ears (background music of our choice from the hosts’ CD library; The Great Lakes Suite with sounds of nature was our favorite). And on top of all this there were great conversations with the hosts who know the Wolfe Island, its history and the community inside out, but are also seasoned globe-trotters, who have traveled the world and share the stories and photos from their journeys with their guests. We are looking forward to going back one day again.

Our stay at the Lakeside room was outstanding. The room has an amazing view of Lake Ontario. The private balcony and entrance gives you the freedom to come and go as you please. The ensuite with shower has been well thought out. Daily breakfasts are delicious with every detail carefully planned by the Hostess Margret. Grant is a fantastic resource of history and humor. This is a hidden gem.

- Dave and Teresa, from Ottawa, Ontario 29 July 2013

Margaret and Grant were wonderful hosts. We would highly recommend visiting this B&B located on Wolfe Island, Ont. The view was spectacular and the accessibility to Kingston and Cape Vincent, NY. was easy. I would go back to stay with them in a heartbeat.

Fate brought me to this bed and breakfast. The Pyke's have a beautiful spot. More than that, they are special people who made me feel welcome and shared not only their home but themselves warmly with me. The Pyke's were a highlight of my trip to Wolfe Island.

We stayed for 2 nights in August of 2010. We loved everything about our stay -- the location, the friendliness and helpfulness of our hosts, the great breakfasts, the attractive simplicity of our rooms, the windmills. Everything.

- R Love, from New York, USA 9 August 2011

Wonderful experience staying at the Pyke's B&B. Breakfast of fresh fruits, juice, eggs & toast was tasteful. Margaret & Grant are the nicest of people to chat with about anything that come to mind. Lake Ontario being 20 feet from the house is inspiring too.

A memory for a lifetime was made at Blue Horizon this week-end! Just the most accomodating folks with such gentility and warmth in a setting much more magical than the internet ad shows! You feel the water is almost at your bounteous breakfast table and to hear the waves crashing on the rocks at night, just awesome! Loved the century old house, the farm background, wildlife, and home-made cooking! I would love to go again! Thanks so much for all you did to make us feel so welcome! Phyllisa (and Brooke, Taylor and Jordan). Would love to stay in touch! Blessings always!

- Phyllisa (and daughter Brooke, grandsons Taylor and Jordan), from Dublin, GA, and Fort Drum, New York 5 April 2009

We loved this B & B. We arrived on our bikes at around 8:30 p.m. as it was getting dark and somewhat chilly. We were welcomed to the B & B with a pot of tea and a cozy room. The room had a balcony overlooking the lake - a perfect spot to watch the waves and enjoy our tea. First rate accomodation and we would recommend it.
