Willkommen bei Freunden Sehr herzlicher Empfang, spannende Gespräche, gemütliches Zimmer mit tollem Blick, liebevoll gemachtes Frühstück, Live-Konzert beim Frühstück vom Besitzer (unbedingt danach fragen). Atemberaubende Bootsfahrt zu den Eisbergen. Vielen Dank. Wir hätten mehr Zeit als 2 Nächte dort übernachten sollen.

Wonderful experience, amazing comfort, worth every penny! Amazing comfort at the upper north of the western part of Newfoundland! Very near l'Anse aux Meadows (10 min by car) A unique B&B , with a family soul. Wayne Bartlett and Cheryl McCarron succeeded in creating a luxury B & B , with a special class, warmth, music (yes, Wayne will sing if you ask) and mix of guests resulting in a unique experience.

If traveling this far north , stay a night . St Anthony's daredevil hike not to be missed. The host and his wife were exceptional! Breakfast was perfect and we were treated to a guitar session. We were all in tears at the end of Wayne's song about the demise of the Newfoundland fisheries. A real treat. No restaurants in walking distance. Drive to very good Norseman wasn't too far however.

It's not quite at the end of the world, but you can certainly see it from here in sublime comfort with 'awesome' hosts. As the first visitors of the 2017 season we were lucky enough to have our hosts Wayne and Cheryl all to ourselves for the first two nights of our stay, and they made us feel so very welcome. We stayed in the Nor'Easter Suite which was wonderfully spacious, warm and very comfortable and we loved being able to step outside directly from our room onto the deck overlooking the sea and Quirpon Island - the mini icebergs covering the water were amazing to see. A view to remember and so quiet. A hearty breakfast each morning of our three night stay was prepared by both Wayne and Cheryl and was accompanied by excellent conversation. As other reviewers have said, this was the best place we stayed during our trip to Newfoundland and if we ever find ourselves back that way again, we'll definitely be making a bee-line back to The Big Blow!

To Stay or Not to Stay?

Before you can answer this question you have to book your room at The Big Blow and live the experience. Then the answer is simple - I don't want to leave. Wayne and Cheryl are INN Keepers par excellence. We were warmly welcomed with a pot of tea or real coffee made by a true coffee barista. And it did not stop there. Cheryl brought us to our suite; or I should say Spa. Yes, Jacuzzi, Rain Shower Table a Million Dollar View, and the sounds of silence on the balcony overlooking the almost end of the world. And a King size bed in a very spacious room. How was the fare at The Big Blow? Generous, prepared by both Cheryl and Wayne, with real coffee (fair traded). All served up after breakfast with a musical interlude by Wayne: Yes, in the morning as all the guests hung around to enjoy the leisurely atmosphere of chatting, learning about the region and singing. Then off to visit the area. Wayne and Cheryl are The Big Blow. They built it with you and me in mind. The Big Blow should become the standard in Inn keeping. Hands down the best hosts of our 10 day visit to Newfoundland.

Perfection!

We spent two nights in Quirpon, at the very tip of New Foundland, toward the end of a three week visit to the island and we could not have asked for more comfortable, welcoming and well-situated accomodations. Our suite was enormous; with our own piece of the deck looking out on the harbor, Japanese soaking tub, walk-in shower, bistro table, huge comfortable bed, lovely local art and complete privacy. Our hosts Cheryl and Wayne were lovely; lots of fun and a wealth of local information. We had the pleasure and privilege of hearing Wayne sing and play guitar for us the last morning, hopefully you will as well. I'm not sure we will be back, this was our fourth trip to New Foundland, but if we do go back no question we will book a few nights at The Big Blow.

Paradise North Surpassed all expectations. Corner room main floor was truly amazing. The view was spectacular. We were enthralled watching from our balcony the icebergs, the birds dive bombing for food in the evening into the water. The air was amazing . All linens and creature comforts were those expected in a five star . The view from our room and balcony was a five star plus. Internet was strong. Now that I got the physical out of the way I would like to say a few words about our hosts, the Bartletts. Truly, truly beautiful people who made us feel at home and at ease. Welcomed us with muffins and tea on our arrival. My wife was feeling ill and hey managed to dig up some herbal tea or her. Wayne gave me a personal tour of the property sharing its unique history. I felt like I was getting an inside view of Quirpon and it's history. It was very emotional to hear Wayne's story. In the morning we were treated to a fabulous home made breakfast and the company of our hosts. We heard stories of days gone by and then a few Songs from Wayne while strumming on his guitar. It did not take much encouragement. It was a marvelous end to our stay. My wife and I fell in love with the Big Blow and we hope to one day return. I will be encouraging all my friends to add this spot to their bucket list.

Perhaps one of the best ever.

Stayed her in the end of September with wife -- had the place to ourselves. On check in was presented with coffee - room was huge - king sized bed - all linens and towels absolutely top of the line -- shower was huge and pressure great -- we even had what was called a Japanese bath in the bath room -- never used it but holds 90 gallons apparently and looked very inviting -- the house it self is amazing -- and the view incredible -- off the bedroom was a walk off balcony - perfect for looking over the bay - owner was around in the evening - interesting man -- breakfast the next morning was a well cooked bacon and eggs -- would go back in a heart beat -- you get what you pay for -- absolutely no complaints (other than only staying one night) -- short drive to the Viking ruins and restaurants in the town.
