Kathy and Marv:

Thanks for sharing your beautiful home and being such great hosts. Your warmth and hospitality were terrific. We have travelled extensively and can honestly say you have all the ingredients that make a wonderful B&B. Loved sitting beside the the fire on a cold damp evening, and finding out we know some of the same people. Continued success for the future.

Back in May this year, my husband and I spent some days at Kathy and Marv's. It was one of our best decisions we’ve made; a great and amazing experience for us to spend our short vacation time at their lovely, warm home. They are such good hosts, they love to receive their guests and they show it, they made us feel at home with their attention, the entertaining conversation we had in the evenings after our day around the Peninsula, along with the other guests, the great, big and amazing breakfasts that Kathy prepared every morning not before asking what each of us would prefer to have, and with such enthusiasm. Kathy and Marv’s have created a beautiful and cozy place indoors and outside their home for their guests to enjoy through the year; secluded and quiet, even though it’s located in the Peninsula main highway. This was our first visit to them and for sure it won’t be the last one.

What a great find....we enjoyed our short stay and plan to put this on our list to return. Thanks for the warm welcome and wonderful breakfast. An enjoyable stay.

An awful place. Better than home. You don't want to leave again. It's Kathy's and Marv's passion to make their guests happy.

My whole life, I have been staying at hotels while vacationing with my family. I grew up this way and it is all I really know. This past weekend, I had the pleasure of staying at The Purple Frog for a night. Typically, the general stereotype of a B&B is that you have a small room to yourself while staying in, most often, an elderly couple’s home. The Purple Frog is the complete opposite of this stereotype. I have never felt so at home while staying at Kathy and Marv’s place. They welcomed me with open arms and took care of me like my own family would have done. After eating a delicious home cooked dinner, we sat around Marv’s famous campfire, roasting marshmallows and chatting with the other guests that were visiting for the weekend. The following morning, we were served an amazing breakfast. I appreciated Kathy’s attention to detail and her willingness to cater to individual meal preferences. Overall, my stay at The Purple Frog was truly humbling. There is a saying that everyone knows, “Home is where the heart is”. Being a guest at Kathy and Marv’s made me realize that it is actually possible to be a part of another family’s heart when they welcome you into their home. Thank you so much for everything, I will be back soon, and I will be spreading the word about how amazing the two of you are!

Kathy and Marv are AMAZING hosts and such friendly people. Having only been open for 6 weeks when we stayed, they are off to such a great start! The entire house is so cozy and the area is quiet and peaceful. Their nightly campfires are a nice touch.

I really recommend to those hesitant about B&Bs or are more of the 'keep-to- ourselves' kind of people, step out of your comfort zone a little and get to know Kathy and Marv! It will make your stay so much more enjoyable and worthwhile. The other guests happened to be very friendly as well and it was nice to wake up to a light and welcoming atmosphere the next morning... not to mention to the smell of breakfast, which was amazing! I love that Kathy asked what we wanted for breakfast and really ensured that we felt at home.. and we did!

My parents and I stayed here for just one night, but we'll definitely be booking our stay here when we're back in town! :) You're staying at a 5-star B&B for at such a great value. Worth every penny!

We love to stay at Bed & Breakfasts, but this stay exceeded all expectations. The bedroom was comfortable, the cottage and grounds inviting, and the food was delicious. Kathy's breakfasts kept us going through hiking, boating and touring the peninsula. Spending time with Kathy and Marv was like being with family! We are planning our return trip to the Bruce and will stay at The Purple Frog again.

We had the chance to come up for a long weekend and had a great, relaxing trip. Marve and Kathy have a beautiful home and lots of nice areas on their property - a pond, screeded gazebo, hammock, etc. They were easy to talk to and made sure that we had everything we needed. We were offered lots of breakfast options - the french toast and eggs were great. As a great plus, we were within half an hour of Tobermory for hiking, swimming, and other attractions.

This B&B completely exceeded our expectations! The accommodations are very clean, comfortable and newly renovated with a cottage charm. The bedding is very good quality and provides for a restful sleep. The breakfast was fantastic and made to order. In addition, a very affordable and delicious dinner was made available for only an extra $10-$15 a person. Most of all, our hosts Kathy and Marv were extremely pleasant and helpful and I don't believe I've ever experienced such great and personalized hospitality. We will definitely be back again!

n the past, I was reluctant about B & Bs since I felt that my personality was more accustomed to a hotel. But boy, did staying here change my mindset indefinitely. Kathy and Marv are the epitome of small town kindness that the city lacks. They bought this beautiful home built in 1867, and wanted to share their love of this historical gem through transforming it into a bed & breakfast. They're such down to earth people; Marv's always tending to the fire, making bacon, chopping wood and attending the grounds and Kathy who is a fabulous human being in every way possible manages anything you need. Aside from a beautiful property, a phenomenal price, just meeting Kathy and Marv is worth you staying here. They cook you a gourmet breakfast of your choice including egg white omelets, eggs benedict, French toast with locally produced maple syrup, homemade jams, banana bread, fire cooked bacon...unreal! It's a great location, but it's far enough from the busyness of Tobermory that you can really enjoy the rustic feel of Ontario. Stay at The Purple Frog now!

We truly came as guests and left as friends

We have stayed at this amazing spot twice, and left full of good food and great memories! We indulged in Marv's fries, and ribs over the open fire ... Then there was the BACON. It's all topped off by immaculate and thoughtful accommodation, and hosts who made us feel right at home. We recommend The Purple Frog to anyone needing a nice break from everyday stress. We are snowmobilers and it's just a couple of minutes off the loop, was easy to find. We plan to go back on the bikes this summer.
