Absolutely beautiful home, property and hosts. Was so quiet and peaceful, hosts were so accommodating and town not far away full of fun and adventure.

Thank you Jim and Gail for sharing your home and the amazing experience ??

- Michael & Michelle Ashton, from Algonquin Mist 23 January 2020

We recently stayed at Algonquin Mists. We had the Lakeview Loft Suite and the Lakeview Studio Suite. Both were beautiful, felt very comfortable and even luxurious. It was on October 11th and the place was stunning tucked in the autumn trees. It had been a difficult day for us (car broke down) and Gail was very accommodating since we arrived quite late. She was a wonderful host and we really enjoyed the breakfast she cooked for us the day after. Quite yummy. We highly recommend this place and would not hesitate to go back comes the opportunity.

- Sylvie, from Canada and New-Caledonia 26 October 2019

First time at a B&B. Both my wife and I were very pleased and happy with our choice of Algonquin Mists. Gail and Jim were very friendly and pleasant, greeted us warmly and were very accommodating in making our stay enjoyable, even to the point that a full breakfast was served even through a power failure that overtook the whole area a couple of hours earlier. Very clean, very pleasant and beautiful house and grounds. Thank you - Gail and Jim.

- Len, from Welland, Ontario 26 September 2018

We had a wonderful experience here with our teenagers. Wonderful hosts, tranquil atmosphere and amazing breakfast! Rooms were spacious , quiet and comfortable. Thank you Slginquin Mists

- The Nicoletta’s, from Niagara 15 July 2018

We enjoyed another welcoming stay at Algonquin Mists B & B. Our stay was two nights in the Garden Room. It is a large room with comfortable seating in front of the fireplace and TV.Also has a HUGE bathroom and a very comfortable king-sized bed. Breakfast is so very enjoyable sitting in the beautifully decorated room looking out on the lovely landscape and towards the water. We highly recommend a visit to this peaceful retreat !!!

- Carol and Bob Andrew, from Kincardine.ON. 12 October 2017

Just got back from a wonderful weekend getaway. Jim and Gail are amazing hosts. We were in the garden view suite, which was very spacious, clean, had all the amenities of home; not to mention the extremely comfortable king size bed. Oh yes the breakfasts were abundant and made to order for dietary requirements if necessary. I highly recommend this B and Breakfast. One more thing- the location is central to all the Huntsville area has to offer.

- Cynthia and Ed, from Stoney Creek 19 February 2017

We stayed in the Lakeview Loft Suite which was beautiful. The room was very clean with lovely furniture and it had a wonderful view of the lake.

The continental breakfast was the best we ever had. Everything was fresh and we couldn't have asked for anything more.

The location is also perfect, halfway between Huntsville and Algonquin Park.

- Suzi, from Toronto 4 September 2016

Thank you so much for a wonderful experience. We Love your beautiful place, and really enjoyed the breakfast and your company. We will be back soon.

- Anna and Audriy, 26 June 2016

This was a terrific Fall Getaway. Algonquin Mists was a awesome place to stay, close to the Park and such a relaxing, enjoyable home to stay in. Jim and Gail were fabulous hosts, they made you feel like you have known them for years!! Definitely a place to stay again and again!

- Edward Sullivan, from Courtice, Ontario 6 October 2015

This place is pure tranquility, designed to perfection. Any diet requirements were tended to promptly and tastefully. Celebrating my birthday, snowshoeing in the Park all that was a perfect event because of the welcoming atmosphere. The rooms are cared and designed uniquely and the rooms are very clean, wonderfully layer out and everything is in mint condition. Thank you for such a wonderful memorable weekend!

- Anonymous, 9 February 2015

I corresponded with Gail in advance of my Thanksgiving weekend visit telling her that I planned on proposing to my fiancee Gail purchased flowers, chocolates, champagne and arranged the bedroom including rose pedals and hearts while I took my girlfriend on a hike. When we returned from our hike where I proposed she came back to another surprise! Gail recommended places to propose and restaurants to take my fiancee out to after I proposed. All of the details were covered including air misters with essential oils! The setting was quiet, picturesque, cozy and very close to Algonquin Park. It was a perfect little spot. Thank you Gail for all that you did!

- Terry, from Toronto, Ontario 3 January 2015

My husband & I recently stayed at Algonquin Mists for a weekend to celebrate our first anniversary. The place was utterly great! The room was overlooking the beautiful lake. Jim and Gail were just an amazing hosts. Very warm & welcoming. The breakfast that Gail served was hearty. Their home was just a real perfect place for us to just relax & celebrate our special day as a couple. To top it all, the hosts, Jim & Gail were very thoughtful enough to give us a card laid on the breakfast table on that morning on our anniversary! Plus,we just bumped into each other on at the restaurant that night. Too funny! Out of thoughtfulness, they surprised us with a free dessert! Overall,we had such an amazing time . We came as strangers yet we left as friends. Thank you very much Jim & Gail. We are definitely coming year! :)

- Noneth, from Oakville,Canada 23 October 2014

I had a wonderful stay at Algonquin Mists. I was sleeping in the Lakeview Room and indeed had a wonderful view on the lake. All over the house there are coaches in every corner that invite you to sit down and relax. Gail and Jim were wonderful hosts, the breakfast they prepared was amazing and enough for a long day hiking in the Algonquin Park. I really would love to visit them, and of course Huntsville, again.

- Joern, from Stuttgart, Germany 31 July 2014

We had a delightful stay at your beautiful house! Thank you so much for your guidance on our trip. Gail you are an amazing cook & decorator, I have certainly picked up come tips along the way. Keep dong the great job guys. You have created a wonderful retreat for travelers!

- Anonymous, 23 May 2014

We recently stayed at Algonquin Mists B & B (between Christmas and New Year). The house was gorgeous and the views were amazing. We had the lake view room (in the loft), private with a sitting area. Although it was 26 below, our room was warm and cozy. Gail and Jim were great hosts, exceeding our expectations with suggestions of interesting places to visit and dine. The breakfasts were nicely presented with plenty of food to choose from. On our last day, Gail took us on a trail for some snowshoeing (something we had never tried before). We would stay there again.

- Anonymous, from Niagara Region 13 January 2014

It's an wonderfull place to stay. Exellence big rooms! Thank you, Jim and Gail for the delicouse breakfast and the hospitality! We would like to come again!

- Arnold, from Lucerne, Switzerland 9 October 2013

Retreat is meant literally here!

A great Bed and Breakfast! You feel like a guest here with your friends and not as a normal bed and breakfast guest. You can absolutely just dive in and the soul. The breakfast is very nicely presented and tastes great too! We had a Garden View Suite. Very well maintained, clean, great bathroom (incl. Jacuzzi), walk-in closet, fireplace, couch. It all fits together. We felt so good that we stayed 4 nights instead of 2. The hosts can give many tips and you will be left alone, if you want to.

Algonquin Park is only 15 minutes drive away. Keep it up Gail and Jim!

This was translated from:

Keep it up Gail and Jim!

- Monika and Jens, from Germany 25 September 2013

My husband and I spent 3 nights which felt more like 7. Jim knew what he was doing when he built this house. His attention to detail left nothing to want.We stayed in the Lakeview Loft which had a beautiful view of the lake and also, one night,a beautiful full moon.Gail's breakfast and Jim's coffee was delicious. The house is very private and convenient to Huntsville and Algonquin. We spent our evenings enjoying the Muskoka chairs and the quiet of the woods.Thankyou Gail, Jim and Mcgiver(sheltie) for our relaxing stay.

- Bill and Theresa OBrien, from Mississauga,ON 5 August 2013

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful bed and breakfast for two nights in July 2013. We stayed in the forest view suite, which had your own private entrance. The place is amazing, spotless, and felt like home. It was like brand new, everything you would need. Livingroom, fireplace, huge bed, big tub, and your own private cute patio. Gail and Jim were very nice, and we enjoyed seeing their friendly dog! I got to see the other two rooms which are located in the house, and they are as well very lovely! I would highly recommend this place, it is about 10 minutes from huntsville, where we spent alot of our time in the cute town, and 10 minutes from dwight, where there is a very nice beach.

- Jennifer Sweetman-Tellier, from Essex, Ontario 21 July 2013

Our experience with Gail and Jim this summer was absolutely phenomenal! I had planned a surprise wedding for my beloved at her father's property up near the Billie Bear Lodge. Both of our families were present for our engagement, a surprise engagement party, and then our impromptu wedding. After such a long and busy day my new wife and I were looking for a place to relax and be in intimate privacy. Gail stayed up until midnight to welcome us in to the Forstview Suite, where she had prepared champagne on ice and chocolates for us! The suite was absolutely gorgeous, quaint, and private. We would absolutely return for the amenities alone, but it was Gail and Jim's hospitality that took our experience to the next level!

An additional funny story... as my wife and I were leaving the next day, we left her wedding dress on top of our car. Apparently Jim saw it blow off on the street, ran out, grabbed it, and then chased us all the way to the Billie Bear Lodge to make sure that we got it back! We will most certainly be returning to Algonquin Mists for more relaxation and romantic getaways!

- Newlyweds, from Michigan 30 June 2013

My husband and I stayed over the Thanksgiving weekend 2012. We stayed in the bachelor suite which is like you are staying in your very own private little home within the forest. It was very very comfortable, clean, comfy beds. The hosts were so nice and make us feel very welcome. We will be back for sure.

- Robert & Loretta, from Toronto 26 January 2013

Just made a reservation for our long awaited return to this fabulous B&B! Looking forward to the first-rate hospitality offered by Jim and Gail and all the beauty and splendour Muskoka has to offer!

To those looking for the perfect Algonquin retreat, look no further. Algonquin Mists is where it begins and ends!

- Brad & Aliya, from Toronto 6 December 2012

A perfect get-a-way place in the woods. After selling our cottage in Muskoka we were looking for a place near Algonquin Park and found Algonquin Mists. We love all the suites [all very spacious and private] especially the Forest View Bachelor Suite with its private entrance, patio and Kitchenette great for making snacks or enjoying Gail's yummy luxury self-serve breakfast which is so nice on those lazy mornings or when you want to get up at dawn and head to the park for some good photo shoots. Lots of fine dinning in the area, the Norseman restaurant on Walker Lake is one of our favourites and is within walking distance from Algonquin Mists. A five star Retreat

This was the best BnB I have ever stayed in and my partner agrees! We spent two nights last winter here, and plan to do the same this coming year. The house is absolutely beautiful, all of the rooms are incredibly clean, spacious and warm; the pictures don't do it justice! Gail and Jim are wonderfully warm and welcoming people, and their hospitalty was a great and added bonus to an amazing weekend.

- Anonymous, 21 November 2012

Merveilleux B&B en pleine nature. Hotes charmants et très prévenants. Chambres spacieuses et magnifiquement décorées. Petits déjeuners à la hauteur des autres prestations. Excellente étape sur la route des vacances.

- Sylvie, from Paris 21 August 2012

Thanks Gail and Jim for a wonderful long weekend trip.

Gail's healthy and filling breakfast was a wonderful way to start our days. She was so sweet to even provide some muffins for our hikes. After some tiring days hiking, Sammy and I really appreciated the luxury of a nice shower and soaking in the jacuzzi.

The B&B was beautiful. We were very impressed with the care that went into the space and thoroughly enjoyed the Garden Suite. The front porch was lovely in the evening.

Gail & Jim were great hosts in that they were very friendly and open, but also gave space for privacy and seclusion. Would definitely return to the Algonquin Mist!

- Vanessa & Sammy, from Brampton, Ontario 3 July 2012

May 2012 we have some great days at Algonguin Mists. Everything was perfect, lovely spacious room overlooking the lake, the surroundings, the silence. But above all the hospitality of Gail and Jim will not be quickly forgotten and especially the delicious breakfasts, Gail made ??for us. Thank you so much! Hans & Sonja Haarlem Holland

- Hans & Sonja Slotema Snijders, from Haarlem, Holland 25 June 2012

My husband and I went to the Mists Guest Home for our first anniversary. This was our very first B&B experience and we wanted something secluded and cozy. This exceeded our expections and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!

- Aden & Amanda Pamer, 29 November 2011

Luxurious, very comfortable B and B with delicious breakfasts in a lovely setting. We hiked during the day in nearby Algonquin national park (20mins drive) and Limberlost reserve (5 mins drive), ate very nice food at the Norseman restaurant (within walking distance), then sank into the sofa to watch dvds before sleeping for 12 hours a night in the peaceful, huge bed. Gail and Jim are lovely. We definitely recommend this place.

- Kate and Argyris, from London, UK 19 October 2011

Beauty in the woods; a perfect adult retreat if looking for seclusion, pampering and relaxing while being close to Algonquin park, fine dining and Huntsville. Gail and Jim were great hosts; lovely home, built with love and beautiful décor throughout and in the garden suite which we stayed. Breakfast was just perfect to send you on your day's adventures. Lots of amenities to make our stay comfortable as well as a selection of movies for a cozy night in. The bed was extremely comfortable, like sleeping on a cloud. We hope to visit again and would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

- Sheri, from Chatham, Ontario 4 July 2011

Running the danger of repeating other guests' testimonials I must say that the Algonquin Mist Guest Home and Retreat is by f-a-r the most beautiful and hospitable B&B I've ever encountered. Gail and Jim are wonderful hosts, and their intention seems to be to make their place so warm and cozy that one almost forgets that one came to admire the beauty of Algonquin Park nearby. Nasha & I have been there twice, and only two weeks after our last visit, we're already in withdrawal - but fortunately we have a reservation for our next trip. Can't wait! :)

- Erol, from Toronto 12 June 2011

Gail and Jim have a sign outside their front door. It says "Enter as strangers and leave as friends" I would love to say this is true but it is an understatement. We went up to celebrate our anniversary and we were immediately welcomed as family. They are 2 of the sweetest people anyone will have the pleasure of meeting. Gail made delicious breakfasts and Jims coffee was fantastic! The house is absolutely incredible. The Algonquin Mists is the best B&B we have ever stayed at and look forward to going back in the near future.

- Sonya and Tony, from Brampton ON 22 February 2011

This was a really great place. Jim and Gail were very friendly. The breakfast was delicious and the presentation was great. Overall we were very satisfied with the stay at the Algonquin Mists. It was nice that they offered their snowshoes for our use.

- Anonymous, 16 February 2011

This B&B was the best we've visitet in Canada. Gail an Jim were so friendly. They really made us fealing at home. The B&B itself was fantastic. Beautiful rooms, the bathroom big and clean and the breakfast was yummy.

- Martina and Rita, from Switzerland 7 November 2010

This great B&B was our second stop during our trip in Canada. We staid to nights and enjoyed this lovely place near Algonquin park. It is a perfect place for people visiting the park who don't want to stay in one of the big and unfamiliar hotels. We appreciated having breakfast with other guests and getting in touch with James and Gail. Our room was really nice and friendly furnished. We totally recommend this place to everybody! Thanks again for everything and best regards from cloudy Germany!

- Marc and Heike, from Hamburg, Germany 30 October 2010

We have my friend and I stayed for 3 days in this wonderful place, where time seems to stand still. A beautiful house, decorated rooms Sumptuous, a very warm welcome. In a nutshell a beautiful place! One wanted to return as soon as possible!

- BRODART, from Pau, France 19 October 2010

My husband and I just returned from a weekend stay at this charming bed and breakfast. The house is absolutely gorgeous, the rooms charming, the location great and the price, well worth it! The owners are gracious and very friendly and we highly recommend this bed & breakfast! The owner even accomodated my husband's vegan diet and did a very good job for a first try!

- Rina & Sean, from Maple, Ontario, Canada 26 July 2010

I absolutely recommend the Algonquin Mists! Gail and Jim are the most relaxed B+B owners we have ever met. Pictures do not even come close to showing the true beauty of their home and B+B. For two nights, we enjoyed the Garden View Suite. All amenities provided worked, large snuggly couch, GIANT comfortable bed, spacious relaxing spa bathroom. We explored the Town of Huntsville one day and Algonquin Park the next. Each night we came back with our munchies and drinks to enjoy in the comfort of our room; no need to search for wine openers, dishes, etc as all were provided within the room. In the morning we had a great Jog around their crescent location. It's a great running road with some challenging hills and beautiful scenery. Gail's breakfasts are fantastic! Fruit, yogurt, baked goods and breads with pefectly cooked eggs with elegant exceptional presentation. We were looking for some much needed quiet relaxtion after some very stressfull work situations; this is exactly what we found at the Algonquin Mists. Thank you Gail, Jim and "McGavin".

- S. and K. Worth, from Brooklin, Ontario 23 July 2010

Was pleasantly met by the family and their dog upon arrival. The company was wonderful and we fully enjoyed the back deck overlooking the lake. This tranquil inn is a little peice of heaven and I fully recommend it to all who would like a little rest and relaxation. Oh, did I mention Bill and I (Dianne) had the best meal ever at the Norsemen--which is in walking distance from the Inn. The food melted in our mouths. Thanks Gale and Jim for such wonderful hospitality.

We hope to return at some point.

- Dianne and Bill Tough-Hoskins, from Petawawa-ON 18 July 2010

Very pleasantly surprised to be greeted by Gail as we parked in the driveway. Even more surprised to see how beautiful and well-kept their B&B is. Great view of Peninsula Lake out back and the perfect decor for the house and surroundings. We had all the beds for the night and every single member of our family absolutely loved the place and was already thinking when we'd come back or if we make this an annual family trip. Healthy (and filling) breakfast and Gail and Jim kept us informed/entertained about the local area and stories of their family/house. Would recommend this B&B 110% to anyone staying in the area.

- Sandico family, from Markham, Ontario 26 May 2010

When you arrive at Algonquin Mist, Gail greets you with a smile and suddenly you feel you are home. Everything about this wonderful place, its details, views and beauty surrounds you with warmth, comfort and pleasure. The Garden view room was spectacular and very cozy; with all the amenities you dream about and decorated with taste, especially for a romantic retreat. Breakfast was delicate, healthy and perfect. We will always hold fond memories of a magical time at Algonquin Mist and hope to relive them again in the very near future.

By the way, what do you mean with the sign at the entrance that reads: "What happens at the Glenn's, stays at the Glenn's" ?? Is it a hint?

- E and R, from Ontario 11 May 2010

After a beautiful day hiking the trails of Arrowhead and Algonquin, we were tired and ready for respite (and our dog too). What a wonderful home to rest those weary bones! Not only were we welcomed, but the comfort level surpassed our home! Gail & James immediately made us feel at ease -- with a bonus view of a lake and the surrounding wilderness. We thank them for the local knowledge they shared -- particularly the unknown gem "Limberlost Forest Reserve". This was a discovery that we plan to revist! Thanks James for the awesome morning brew!! Not many people can really make a great cuppa. A 5-star stay and look forward to coming back.

- J & L Doherty, from Mississauga, Ontario 11 April 2010

We have just returned home after enjoying a wonderfully restful retreat in the luxurious and charming loft suite of this well appointed, beautiful home. Our gratious hosts were very accommodating and knowledgeable about the area and we even had the good fortune of spotting several deer not far from their home. We are hoping to return to see the fall colours and will definitely make Algonquin Mist a part of our plans.

- Bill and Nancy Clark, from Port Perry, Ontario 18 March 2010

"Come as Strangers and Leave as Friends" - This is certainly true of Alqonquin Mists. A Winter Wonderland all around. The peace and quiet of a real winter Retreat. Really enjoyed the cozy sitting area with a spectacular view, after a day spent outside. Beautiful home with wonderful large rooms. Can't wait till next winter for another visit.

- Fred & Ruth, from Schomberg, ON 27 February 2010

We were the first to stay at Algonquin Mist in glorious Muskoka! We were initially attractedto this location due to it's very close proximity to Algonquin Park, which is where we have enjoyed exploring for many years. To our surprise though, we ended up spending most of our visit enjoying the relaxation and comfort of Algonquin Mist! The modern, yet rustic design of the interior of Algonquin Mist made us feel like we were staying in a 5 star mountain resort in Whistler, and our room accommodations had such an attractive charm, that we honestly did not want to leave this place. Our hostess and host. Gail and Jim were a blast of fun, and went out of their way to insure that we were comfortable, and had everything we needed! The fact that we had all this luxury, only a short distance from the West Gate of Algonquin Park, made it easy for us to access awesome cross country ski trails and wildlife viewing opportunities in the Park. We even had plenty of time to visit Huntsville for shopping, topping off the day by snowshoeing the trails located in Walker's Glenn, then enjoying a glass of wine in front of a Muskoka fireplace! This was a great way to end our first day at Algonquin Mist. Our next day was spent enjoying our accommodations and host's! We enjoyed a late brunch and relaxing Jacuzzi bath in the privacy of our comfy room. Our hostess Gail Coughlin, made us feel welcome in her beautiful home, sharing with us stories of the many experiences she's had exploring this area in all it's magnificent seasons. Algonquin Mist, to us, is the best kept secret in Muskoka! Soon to be less of a secret and enjoyed by many other people in the near future.
