Fall - full of farmers' markets, fairs, festivals and folliage.....it's
all here in St Jacobs Country and the surrounding Woolwich Township.....we
are a rich patchwork of towns and villages, a rural way of life that
is reminiscent of a quieter, slower pace of time, when travelling by
horse and buggy to market was an all day event.
The
undulating countryside is a kalidescope of family proud farms rich with
the harvest, fields of wheat, corn that remind us of our beginnings.....farmers
baling the crops from freshly ploughed fields with teams of horses,
beautiful displays of flowers surrounding farmhouses, cattle and horses
lazily grazing in the fields...surely a recipe for a soothing, contented
escape from the pressures of life.
Fall is the time for festivals and fairs, farm tours, envigorating hikes
and bike rides, or a trail ride on a handsome chestnut steed. Taste
sensations abound with apple fritters & dumplings, apple butter
and cider, pig tails, ribs & the ever popular schnitzel. Market
produce abounds in huge baskets - corn, tomatoes, peppers, squashes
and potatoes apples and pears, just waiting to be made into this winters'
dinners, perserves and pickles.Certainly, the perfect venue to pick
up the freshest Thanksgiving Dinner vegtables. Don't forget the apples
and pumpkins for pies.
