Learn from an experienced Operator, what you can expect when operating a Bed and Breakfast.

Seminars are offered by Brooks’ Place Bed and Breakfast Seminars.

Ernie and Ethel operated Brooks' Place from 1995-2006, with visitors from over 40 countries. For several years Ethel taught this course with Edmonton Public Schools Continuing Education, now Metro Community College . While doing this, she found there was a need for a weekend course to be offered to those who must travel a distance. This course is being offered to anyone wishing to learn if the B&B business is a viable business for them. Classes are usually held whenever there are enough people interested to hold one. You can check out the date of the next class offered on BrooksBB.com or call 1-780-438-6048

Subjects to be addressed will include:

  • How do I get started?
  • What is required of the operator?
  • What supplies do I need?
  • Where do I buy supplies?
  • What do I serve for breakfast?
  • How do I market my business?
  • How many guests can I expect to have in a year?
  • Setting prices
  • What security risks are there?

And much, much more.

There will be plenty of time for your individual questions and discussion among class members. If you have questions before the class, write them down to be sure that we cover them in the class.

What previous students have said:

"A lot of good information to have from someone who has actually run a B&B for a lot of years. Some of the little things that aren’t covered through other information channels were good to learn. Also, good to have the take-home booklet for the future."
RT, Alberta

"The course is a good overview with lots of practical examples. Provided a good picture of what running a B&B would be like. The money for the course is well spent before venturing out. There were lots of things covered that we had not thought of."
R.H. Sherwood Park, AB

"I received a lot of information in these two days. I think it is a very valuable workshop/course to have before developing a B&B. (Good reality check). The material covered was detailed and thorough, presenter relaxed and comfortable with presentation allowing good discussion about issues/concerns & "told it like it is."
G. F. Stony Plain, AB

"This course has been so helpful for me. You have supplied us with valuable handouts and have covered so many topics. A lot of food for thought. Really appreciate all the recipes!"
L.F. Ft.McMurray, AB
