Canada does not have a national licensing policy for the operation of bed and breakfasts. Licensing of a bed and breakfast operation has the potential to be issued at the municipal and or the provincial government levels. It's therefore very important for potential Bed and Breakfast operators to verify what licensing regulations apply to their business.

The following provinces do require Bed and Breakfast operators to license their operations:

• Newfoundland/Labrador
• Nova Scotia
• Prince Edward Island
• Québec
