J.D. and Doug White (now retired) started BBCanada in August 1994 and have grown it to become one of the largest travel websites in Canada. BBCanada operates with a full time staff of 4 from Hamilton, Ontario.
J.D. is a software developer with over 20 years of experience. He has created numerous internet technologies for large dot-com companies as well as many non profit organizations. He developed 'bbdug' technology that allows B&B owners to update their pages in real time. Originally launched in 1997, BBDUG has become a popular tool for Bed and Breakfast owners across Canada.
Patrick J. Power
Chairman
Patrick is a senior finance and technology executive with 30 years of experience founding and/or participating in the start-up teams of a number of successful companies. He holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario.
Patrick has participated in the startup teams of several successful high technology companies including Xicom Technologies Corporation (Co-founder), Corel Systems Corporation (member of founding team), Newbridge Networks Corporation (member of founding team) and Nuvo Network Management Inc. (Founder). His operational experience has included specific responsibility for product management, research and development, manufacturing, sales and marketing, strategic planning and financing.
Patrick is currently President of James Edward Capital Corporation, an Ottawa-based boutique investment bank (www.jamesedward.ca). As Chairman of BBCanada, Patrick's focus is strategic business and corporate development.
Cathy McGowan
General Manager
As General Manager, Cathy McGowan is responsible to co-ordinate the day to day operations of BBCanada. As well, she works to develop partnerships, media coverage and related traffic generating activities.
Cathy's role is to ensure that BBCanada offers you the B&B operator the most value for your marketing dollar.
Jill Macintosh
Association Coordinator
Jill is responsible for working with B & B Associations to help achieve maximum exposure on BBCanada.com. She would be happy to hear from associations who would like to have her attend their annual meetings, conferences etc. She wants to work with you! And she wants to keep you current on the newest features of our site. Jill also takes inquiries regarding For Sale Advertising on this site. She will work with you directly or through your Real Estate Agent if you would like to sell your Bed and Breakfast.
Jill started with BBCanada in February 2008. Her background is in Sales, Marketing and Human Resources. She spent 7 years with another web travel company in Hamilton and 10 years in the book publishing industry in Toronto. As National Sales and Marketing Manager she traveled widely within Canada, the US and abroad. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario, she spent time studying in Paris at La Sorbonne, and traveling widely in Europe. She also worked in the airline industry during her university years as a Flight Attendant. She has traveled within Canada, the US, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, Scandinavia, the South Pacific, and South America.
She has stayed in many domestic and international Bed and Breakfasts over the years and it is her favourite way to travel. She is thrilled to be working in the industry where she is able to deal with the B & B owners on a regular basis.
Denise Lucken
Bilingual Information Officer
Denise joined BBCanada in September 2008. As information officer, Denise works with our clients on a daily basis to assist them in maximizing their B&B listing. As well she works to implement the great marketing programs and new services while ensuring they run seamlessly and offers support to our clients by email or telephone.
Denise has had a varied background ranging from Law & Security, switchboard operator, office administration to producing a video magazine, and more recently spending 20 years as a Graphic Designer. She is currently educating herself in Web Design. In her off hours she can be found with her husband Jeff and their little kitten, Sophie.
Serge Regnier
Technical Support Representative
Serge joined BBCanada in April 2008. He studied at the Montreal campus of the University of Québec and Champlain College in Saint Lambert where he received a certification in computer networking. He worked for many years in technical call centres where he worked his way up from a customer service representative to Account Supervisor and then to being the technical In-house Trainer for client Services.
His role at BBCanada is to offer a technical assistance to subscribers and coordinate everything related to web services e.g. new Domain Names, file transfers, email issues, etc.
Rico Falcone
Graphic Artist
With BBCanada since 1997, Rico has designed all of the artwork for this site including the detailed provincial map, tourist regions, as well as paper publications such as letterhead, business cards and poster artwork.
Rico's creative genius allows easy, logical navigation of this website as well as being pleasing to the eye.
